I will leave you to your own internal argument, a child could understand my point but somehow you cannot. I cannot count the number of times I have had to correct your use of invade and claim it is mine and not once did you show me a post where I made that statement, the least you could have done was be honest and say so. This has gone beyond debate into ignorance and I no longer wish to deal with it.

That is not what you were saying before, I did say they were invading, now your trying to say this is what I denied when in fact you were pushing the statement that I said we should invade them. You are less than honest and you are not worthy of debate.

But to say that the national partys don't see the votes that could be counted on in the future is naive.

I think it is naive to think Dubya fought to become President so he could help the party win more votes. When you reach the top you think about what history will say not what donors will say.

I'm pointing out that the above argument is simply wrong, and why it is wrong.

I never said that you were saying "invade Mexico." I am saying that if you really believe the words coming out of your mouth, you are forced--by ironclad military and geopolitical realities--to invade Mexico in retaliation.

But you refuse to do it, which goes to show the world that you, deep down, don't believe the stuff you're saying.

Your proposed "solution" is a permanent, never-ending deployment of US troops on the border. You know what happens if those troops ever leave? The illegal immigration starts right back up again. Your proposal would permanently cripple the ability of the US military to project power overseas. There are a lot of countries out there that would really like that.

There are even a lot of "Americans" who'd really like that.

I'm not one of them.

The fact of the matter? THIS President is lying down like a bloodhound in the North Carolina heat. NO fight. NO Maginot Line. NO defense. Nothing.

And no, I will not subscribe to your definition of "war."

Like the body fighting a virus, a minor number of infecting cells is able render the health of its host severely compromised.

"Conquest" isn't necessary in the case of illegal invaders to squat in OUR sovereign nation.

I didn't say anything about the President, I said the party.
The two major partys are, almost, indistinuishable today.
There are individuals in the partys that stand out, for whatever reason.
Our current President is one of them.

Reallocation of troop deployment would not necessarily mean more government, higher troop levels? maybe depending on what else is happening in the world at that time.

Right now we are fighting terrorist in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are looking at nukes in N Korea and Iran. I can't understand why we would divert those soldiers to stop Latinos from cleaning toilets, but we all have our priorities I suppose.

Well, there are some entities out there that would LOVE to see America do that--it takes the heat off of them. Heck, there are even some "Americans" (Kerry voters, mostly) who'd like to see America cripple its ability to project power overseas.

I'm not one of those folks, of course.

Whoa -- We're obviously on different wave-lengths.

Yeah, I'm on the conservative wavelength that knows how the military works, and what it does (to wit, kills people, breaks things, and wins wars). You're on the liberal wavelength that thinks the military's a bottomless reservoir of manpower to support your pet project. (It isn't.)

If you put a large fraction of the US military on the border (and closing 2,000 miles of border will, indeed, require a large fraction of the military) on an unending mission, then any international crisis means either (a) the US does nothing, or (b) illegal immigration ramps right back up to present levels. Our enemies would love for us to face such a difficult decision.
