Hollywood is the next to fall into Republican hands.
The tipping point is at hand, folks. Give it another five years, and the smelly lefties will only have the university.
Which is exactly where we want to isolate them.

Just from the first half hour it's complete pandering bilge. One of the people they had on actually claimed that the appearance of films like The Graduate in the late 60s which had previously been confined to the arthouse was a sign of Hollywood's decline. How is arthouses fare getting into the mainstream a bad thing?
The reason there aren't more conservative themed films is that conservatives don't invest in the film industry. It's not a field that lots of us seem to go into.

In the humble opinion of someone who's friends consider him a movie nut, The Passion was the most powerful and moving film I have ever seen. Period. By any standard by which most films are judged, acting, direction, cinematography, art, costume, etc. it is a masterpiece. Respectfully, your comparisons with other high grossing films that the AAMPAS failed to recognize just doesn't fly.

Gibson just slammed Valenti:
He asks if there is a bias against conservatives.
Valenti says, no, if the person has a sellable idea, Hollywood will back it.
Then Gibson cuts to the Passion scene in which Jesus addresses Judas.
The implication: Hollywood did not back a sellable idea, even when such an idea screamed in Hollywood's face.

It actually was nominated for its cinematography. As well as makeup and music. It may very well have been a masterpiece butI can go through the Best PIcture nominees every year since the 20s and find masterpieces that were overlooked. It's the way of all awards shows like this.

Conservatives tend to be realistic people. Why should they enter a field where you must be a good phony to succeed?

No one thought POTC would make any money. There was no modern precedent for it. If they had known they would have been all over it. Wait not till the Passion imitations come out of the woodwork.

Especially with Mel, who's got a mantle covered with Oscars. As if he hasn't got the talent to direct/produce/star-in a money-maker.

Political relasionships are part of success in any business. I'm not just talking about acting. Just being an investor. Or director for that matter More conservatives should go to film school! I used to work in one and didn't meet a single one!

That's why Hollywood fails.
It no longer has originality or vision or biz smarts.
For every one person that attends a movie, there are five that go to church.
It's not rocket science to understand a marketing opportunity such as the Passion.
To: Vision Thing
Hopefully this breakthrough will lead to more films on religious themes. There is certainly no lack of material.

Anti-liberal themes would be just as smart. There's a latent demand for it out there.
60 million adults voted for Bush, five million more than those who voted for the lefty.

Yes a brainless schlock action film is the epitome of the larger political philosophy of an industry! 'The Incredibles' enough said.

I was just about to suggest the Trey Parker team.
He and his guys seem to be selling very well in America.
To: Borges
But at least the schlock action films of the '80s and early '90s with Stallone and Ah-nold had definitive good and bad guys. Take "True Lies" which now is an awesome example of what could happen (with terrorists).
