The folks who worked with "Woodstein" at the Washington Post said that Deep Throat existed long before the Watergate investigation gained national importance and before any book deal was even considered a possibility. They say Woodstein may have hyped his importance in the book, but he's definitely real. As for the first manuscript for ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN, Mr. Burns is correct - it did not contain any reference to Deep Throat. But their editor was fascinated by the stories she heard from Woodstein and the others at the Post and thought it would spice up the story.

If anyone wants to read an interesting theory on Deep Throat's identity check out the following web site

If this theory is correct, Deep Throat is not only real - he's a regular guest on FOX News!

[ "Deep Throat is fiction" ]

Except in back rooms in the Senate..
With meetings between lobbyists and Senators..
Where a hefty breeze blows.. many blow jobs going on there..

As truth and fiction blend in the Mixmaster of History almost any sauce can be made palatable.
