I hope some more dems run and they all beat the hell out of each other.

Like Michigan 94's gubenatorial and senate races.

Ford, Jr. is one of the big shining lights of their party. Moderate, African-American, Southern, young, probably would play well with "soccer moms." If he can win the US Senate race in Tennessee, an increasingly red state, he would be on the extremely short list for VP nominees, and could possibly make a run for the White House on his own someday. He's a dream candidate for the Democrats for national office. If he can win this seat, the upside on the end is huge.

If he wins, Hillary had best watch out in '08.

Shoot, he strikes me as running mate material. Truly a man to watch out for. Photogenic, black but not so black that Howard Dean will mistake him for a waiter... mm hmm. We'll be seeing more of this fellow.

he is a virulent liberal.... Why is frist retiring in 2006? He has more duty to his country and more is being asked of him.

I actually like Ford. True he is a Democrat but he is not a rabid beast like the North Eastern ones and I find myself agreeing with him more than not when he appears on talk shows.

Now granted I dont see him on a daily basis in TN, but from his Fox etc appearances he seems to be a fairly level headed person for a Democrat. Maybe he is a DINO to get elected to his House seat...

In '08, the Republican Convention will be first. If the Republicans nominate Condi for either President or VP, then the Dems will be almost locked into Hillary and a black VP.

I thought the party of the incumbent always holds their convention second?

Richardson is Hillary's running mate - they need the Hispanic vote, they have the black vote sewn up.

I'd rather vote for a RINO than a Dem.

I do, every two years. Jim Leach (R-IA) has been in the House forever, is a man with integrity -- especially for a politician (e.g. no PAC money) -- and is rotten to the core on social issues. But, for the most part, he's fiscally conservative.

Especially since the Dems keep finding whacko far-left liberals to run against him, he gets my vote every time. Considering Iowa City (San Francisco Lite) is in our district, he's probably the best we can hope for.

I always liked him, even though he played a large role in Kerry's campaign for president. He is super-polite and does appear moderate, based on what I've seen of him on Fox. However, when he was on last week, he was asked whether Bush should be given any credit for any successes seen in Iraq. I was very disappointed, because he could not manage to give the President any credit whatsoever.

Hardly. Richardson has all the media appeal of Athletes foot......

Plus, they'll anticipate a problem with SoS Rice on the trail.

NO, that is his uncle state Sen john ford, and JUNIOR's daddy harold sr.

JUNIOR IS A LIBERAL/SOCIALIS make NO mistake about his soft spokeness or his seeming willingness to cooperate with the GOP.

It's ALL words no action. He votes with in a handful of points to the right of teddy kennedy and nancy pelosi

He's sponsored NO major legislation, supports gun control, abortion on demand and HIGHER TAXES!

We here in Memphis KNOW him, we know the media tries to portray him as a moderate blue dog DEM, which he most certainly is NOT! REPEAT: Junior is a LIBERAL/SOCIALIST

His time would be better spent bringing his Tennessee relatives into compliance with the law.
