It's a longshot at this point in time but how cool would it be to have a President who had performed at a Freeper Ball?
that would be wonderful.. and I think everyone who was at ball one and/or ball two will attest that Gove H. has more talent in his toenails than 42 did with his whole body on the Sax...(or other places..) chuckle
BTW is your screenname a yet to be disclosed version of Windows? are you a Bill Gates apprentice? You can tell us. We will still love you.
Leftist's heads would be exploding worldwide! Kinda like the space aliens and Slim Whitman records--argh, can't remember the name of the movie, but will never forget the images.
Did you see the thread from earlier today posted by a NEWBIE Liberal? Interesting ...

Coming up now, ping!
Ping!
I hope you are taping this and can lend it to me later. My instructions for taping on the cable box are still packed somewhere and I'm too tired to try to find them.
Governor Huckabee and the Capitol Offense Band and crew were awesome at the FR W2 Ball.
I'm taping it, also. The part about the ball is coming up in a few minutes.
LAMB: What is it? And why were you playing at the Free Republic inaugural ball?
HUCKABEE: Well, because they invited us. That's why. We played there four years ago for their inaugural ball, and we were invited back, which for us, we always say that getting invited the first time is pretty great, but if you get invited back, that's really the honor.
The Freepers, as they like to call themselves -- people may know them as the group that on their blogs and through the Web site helped expose some of the fallacies in the CBS reporting of President Bush's National Guard record. They're really -- my experience with them is that they're a delightful group of people who are very politically motivated, pointedly conservative, but they love to have fun. And they have a great sense of humor. Sometimes it's biting and satirical humor, but I think there's a lot of room in politics for that.
Thanks DH.
I was flipping channels today and found Mike Huckabees interview. Did not know him from Adam before this interview. I found him VERY interesting. Perhaps THE closest politician to my personal views I've ever seen. I would have to learn more to be sure. Naturally, I can see some areas we disagree, but it would be largely on the finer points of views, not on basic concepts.
I too am a conservative who believes in the arts and not in throwing out the "arts" baby with the bath water.
I also have his interview to thank for hearing about this site. I notice that there are many Delphi Forums folks here. I hung out at Delphi for four years and I never heard of this site.
Thanks Free Republic and Thanks Mike Huckabee. If you ever wish to move to California and be Gov after Arno, I would greatly appreciate it.
The full transcript of the hour-long program is here: Q&A. Here is my slightly-corrected version of the comments concerning FR:
BRIAN LAMB: In your spare time, you have a band.GOV. HUCKABEE: Yes.
LAMB: What do you play?
HUCKABEE: I play bass guitar.
LAMB: How long have you done that?
HUCKABEE: I started playing when I was 11 years old. I was like most kids, you know, I wanted to be a rock-and-roll singer. We've got some -- there we go! [Video of band at FR Ball starts playing] There...
LAMB: What's the name of the band?
HUCKABEE: Capitol Offense. That's because most of us work at the state capitol, and we figure that our music pretty well offends everybody by the time we finish playing. But we have a blast. We've -- this year alone -- well, within the last year, we've opened for Willie Nelson, .38 Special, Grand Funk Railroad, Percy Sledge. We played at the New Orleans House of Blues, New York City at the Republican convention.
LAMB: We don't have a whole lot of tape -- let's listen to just a little bit...
HUCKABEE: OK.
LAMB: ... see what it sounds like.
(VIDEO CLIP OF "CAPITOL OFFENSE" PERFORMANCE)
LAMB: Now, that's an organization called the Free Republic Inaugural Ball...
HUCKABEE: Right.
LAMB: ... and anybody that follows this stuff knows that Freerepublic.com is a very conservative group.
HUCKABEE: Right.
And they have a great sense of humor. Sometimes it's biting and satirical humor, but I think there's a lot of room in politics for that.
LAMB: Would they exist without the Internet?
HUCKABEE: Probably not. I mean, they really are a web-site-based sort of network. I wouldn't even call them an organization because they're not organized. You don't have a president and a -- you know, all these officers. They're a network of like-minded people who believe very deeply in America and believe very deeply in conservative principles, and they talk to each other by way of the Internet, and they share information and all sorts of research with each other, some of which has proven in this last year to be pretty potent.
Welcome to FR! I first heard about this place on C-Span too, back in '99. You will find a wide spectrum of conservative opinion here, lively debate, fascinating research/fact-checking/myth-busting, and THE sharpest, smartest humor anywhere. FReeping is Fun!
We FReepers have been aware of Gov. Huckabee since 2001 when he and his band played our first Inaugural Ball. There are probably some Arkansas FReepers who could discuss the details of his policies with you, perhaps some will see this and ping you.
Delphi Forums? You mean there are OTHER websites besides FreeRepublic? Wow, I learn something every day! ;-)
Sorry nothing to do with Microsoft or Bill or its operating system. It's actually an obscure reference in the movie Star Wars.
guess I am not the star wars fan i thought I was. I have seen them all dozens of times.. but am not a fanatic.. just a super fan of the movies. On my profile page I mention that SW movies are my favs of all time of all movies. Thanks. I doubted that it was a reference to MS, just silly humor when I was slap happy tired.
