I disagree. But that's what we do here, right?
Once government is responsible for all the costs of terminal care, the "Right to Die" will become the "Duty to Die" almost overnight...
The point being--nobody has to do murder, and nobody is forced to accept a feeding tube.
Wait a second...so...you're saying that you'd RATHER see people starve to death than be able to die in a comfortable manner. Interesting.
We just got back from seeing the Will Smith movie Hitch. I need to warn people that the movie deals with the controversial issue of "an old woman pretending to choke on a grape".
This is important because the movie was not marketed as a movie that deals with "old women choking".
There is a slippery slope here, first the old women pretend to choke and the next thing you know they are on the crack and robbing banks.
Interesting how silly your remark...! I'm saying the premise of the movie is ridiculous. A patient cannot be forced, against his will, to have any treatment or procedure. Hosptials are not prisons. You can, if you want, have a feeding tube removed. It would be "against medical advice."
I don't see any effort to stem the tide of drivers who think it is their right to drive while under the influence. Homocide while driving drunk is an outrage that we don't hear one peep about and not one media outlet is outraged over it like the childish behavior at Abu Ghraib.
I stand by my comment - drinkers think it is their right to drive drunk regardless of the consequences and this society winks at it.
What? Do you think that drink and drive citizens think otherwise? I don't see any evidence of that and you don't have any.
It is obvious you have lost a love one to a drunk driver. I am sorry for your loss and share in your disgust at drivers that drive drunk. I will not split hairs concerning your comments because of your loss. I will consider this conversation closed.
My prayers for you and your family.
