Those ads were up on websites during the recall, weren't they?
I thought they were great! lol.

The numbers tell me that Westly bought his job.

Here you go!

Candidate Votes Pct.  Spent
Steve Westly Moderate Democrat 45.4 $2.0
Tom McClintock Conservative Republican   45.1 $10.6

Result? The conservative got no support from the GOP,
was outspent 5:1 by a moderate Democrat,
and nearly won anyway.

Cruz M. Bustamante Leftist Democrat 49.5 $4.6
Bruce Mc Pherson Moderate Republican 41.8 $2.8

Result? The “moderate” Republican darling of the GOP got lots of support,
was outspent only 1.6:1,
and lost by a margin NINE TIMES larger than McClintock in the same election.

So much for "moderates are more electable in California."

Nice work. Here's another observation:
The conservative got almost 200,000 more absolute votes than the moderate.
Tom McClintock Controller Race Rep 3,206,178
Bruce Mc Pherson Lt. Gov. Race Rep 3,031,571

The Kilt commercial was Priceless..

He should have ran it state wide and wore the kilt at the debates.

I would have preferred a Republican who had some prospect of advancement and who would advance the Republican agenda. This is more Hollywood smoke-and-mirrors. Arnold is a smokescreen liberal, about as conservative as is his buddy Jesse Ventura. These people are NOR conservatives, and they are NOT ltbertarians, but they ARE liberal opportunist frauds. Californians have been "two-card-Monteyed".

McPherson won't rock the boat.

He has huge approval rating among DEMOCRATS.

PS: This would be the equivalent of electing the Mayor of Havana.

Though a RINO, McPherson is an acceptable choice.

Nonsense. Rino's are liberals. They must all be defeated.

oops. It's what I get for doing writing html on the notepad.
It's cleaner, but typos are hard to find.

Candidate Votes Pct.  Spent

Tom McClintock Conservative Republican   45.1 $2.0

and nearly won anyway.

Cruz M. Bustamante Leftist Democrat 49.5 $4.6
Bruce Mc Pherson Moderate Republican 41.8 $2.8

Result? The “moderate” Republican darling of the GOP, who got lots of party support,
was outspent only 1.6:1 by an extreme leftist with no credibility.
The "electable" GOP "moderate" LOST by a margin NINE TIMES larger than the conservative in the same election.

So much for "moderates are more electable in California."

As honest and credible, whether they agree with him or not. That's why conservatives can win where moderate sellouts like Brucie don't.

We need to continue to educate and inform those who are willing to be open-minded as to the negatives in acting one way and governing another.

So do we accept a Republican who might give us conservative policy or a RINO who will definitely not give us conservative policy? Seems to me that the tally sheet is coming in. Schwarzenegger is no conservative. Better than Dufus, to be sure. But no need to get our hopes up. IMO, California has further to sink.

It's a tough assignment, but it's the one we've been handed. Our luck to be right in terms of history, yet having to battle the true believers and aide the brainwashed. We're up to it though. We'll win. :O)

My guess is he's a caretaker til the Democrats can reclaim the office next year. For some reason, California's terrain is not as favorable to conservatives as it is to RINOs. Can you name ONE conservative state-wide officeholder in California? Texas is a predominantly GOP state in terms of voter registration and ideology and CA comes up as a mirror image of TX.

Oh get a grip please. Democrats outnumber Republicans here 3:2. And even the Independents mostly lean left. That explains the Democratic majorities in the State Legislature, the Democratic hold on all statewide offices and CA's going Democratic in every presidential election since 1992. Its been this way for a long time and the reason Republicans have come up short in the past decade is the exodus and death of old-line Reagan Democrats - who used to cross party lines and vote conservative. Today's Democrats are a good deal more partisan and liberal. Say whatever you want but CA ain't TX.

So do we accept a Republican who might give us conservative policy or a RINO who will definitely not give us conservative policy?

It depends upon the likely outcome. Both RINO and Slave Party policies harm the conservative small business base, produce more government dependents, and cause eventual economic collapse. Then there's corruption.

Think Nixon. He may have won twice but his policies were disastrous in the long run. Loss in Vietnam, rampant inflation, regulatory government, and a resurgent China. At least after Carter we got Reagan, but it was a close call.

This is not to say that there aren't RINOs out there who aren't a problem, just that one should not make an open generalization. For example, IMO, Tom Campbell is an OK RINO, primarily because he is at least an honest one.

Thus, in my judgment, Davis was preferable to Schwarzenegger for reasons I have explained repeatedly. I don't want Republicans owning the consequences of Arnold's administration.
