Adoption might be best for them. They aren't going to have much of a chance in their villages being labeled as "janjaweed".
It is senseless to us. This type of behavior in war has been going on since the beginning of time. The object is to annihilate the ethnic males, and impregnate the females with their children. Now we have mass media and the internet to inform us that these kinds of atrocities are still occuring in parts of the world.
At least these women weren't killed or driven from their villages for the stigma of rape. Their lives are pretty much over, though. Very sad...
