Quote: "let's be honest - it really is NOT a good idea for the White House to have a "plant" posing as an independent journalist. In fact, the idea stinks."
Its and even worse idea to allow the MSM to tell the White House who it can and can't admit to its press briefings. The MSM is being challenged by the New Media everyday here and elsewhere. Why shouldn't the New Media have a place in the White House briefing room? Because pretty boy David (my brain is the NY Times) Gregory says so?

"A network insider was less sanguine about the White House tactic: "Playing hardball is one thing. But appealing to homophobia and jingoism is simply ugly."
Thanks for the post. More double standard and hyposcrisy from the MSM.

Let's say Gannon didn't realize these were porn or homosexual sites he was registering. I just can't get past the odd
photo on his AOL profile?

"If Gannon/Guckert was involved with gay prostitute websites, then I'm damn glad they ran him out of town!!!"
And checkout this jewel:
"Guckert said he registered those domain names for a client while he was working to set up a Web hosting business in Wilmington."
If you register a domain name for a client it generally means you're hosting those sites.
Why would anyone register a domain name for a client unless that service was part of a complete development package?
Why would an Internet pornographer have to go through him to register a domain when they could do themselves?
If he registered a domain for a client he would have to immediately transfer the domain to the client for the client to own it. What's the point in that? To collect a $20 fee?
And finally why is he having anything to do with Online Pornography? It's a filthy business and it has lead to the deaths of many young people.
To: Strategerist
Guckert/Gannon is a FReeper, and everyone is used to calling him that.

Indeed, he would have to discriminate to stop people from registering the names of their choices.I have no problems with that.
There's too much perversion on the Internet anyway.

And I thought we were supposed to accept, no,
celebrate, the gay lifestyle.
I don't suppose any of the other members of the Whitehouse Press Corps have anything they would like to hide.
Some of the reporters already sound like they're already on the recieving end of the gay lifestyle while breathlessly reporting the "facts"

How do you know, it's HIS AOL profile? There is no name or SN associated with it.
And if it's his, what makes you think he is trying to appeal to guys, not girls?

So far I haven't seen any proof, that he was associated with any such thing. Have you?

I was using pictures posted on the web for comparison purposes and concluded they were quite similar if not the same person. I understand the AOL profile uses Guckert's initials.
Regardless of who he was trying to appeal to, I don't consider posting pictures of oneself in underwear on the internet as appropriate.

I'm saying that his explanation for why his name is associated with the domain names is unconvincing.
I'm in Online business news and I periodically provide web content so I'm sensitive to branding issues.
If I found out a potential client or partner was associated with adult content I would run for the door.
Any link however tenuous to the porn industry including adult domain names can ruin a legitimate business. It can poison a legitimate brand identity forever.

How many damn articles does the WAcomPost plan to run anyway?
There is other news to cover, rather than blowing up an exaggerated tale that they think passes as a scandal.
More proof that their 'time' has passed.
That , and the smell of the rag they need to rename the CommiePost heap.
