It's just about personalities and money.
Is it just me, or is the title of the article really odd? What is up with that...of course they are. And the sun rises in the morning.
illusions of grandeur...
With Howard Dean as their leader, they're like a one legged man in a butt kicking contest! LMAO
I hate that politicians worry and work more for their own "seats" (literally) than for the promises they make to the public to get elected in the first place. Wonder what would happen if they were paid based on results rather than by salary. Hmmmmm, might make a big difference if they had to sweat like us common folk.
If they handled it right, they could use Social Security to scare the seniors in states like Florida and in the rust belt and pick up a couple of house seats and maybe bump off Santorum. But it doesn't look like they are doing that. The in-your-face obstructionist attitude of Reid and Pelosi will continue turn people off. If they were smart they would be up there saying how it is the obligation of government to safeguard social security blah blah blah, and that all solutions should be examined blah blah blah, and they welcome the Presidents ideas but regretfully, after looking at the figures the scheme that the president proposes will leave too many people in poverty blah blah blah, cost to much, etc. ect. etc. In other words take a page from the Republican playbook of acting bi-partisan in public and obstruct in private.
Rahm Emanuel, ballet dancer who likes to pinch people.
If the Dems like Chuck Schumer is their answer, they're not paying attention. Picking one of the leaders of the obstructionist movement will not help the Democrats...it will hurt them. And there was much rejoicing.
Meanwhile, darkness is forecast for later this evening.
" Emanuel, 45, has been known to pinch people when he felt that words weren't strong enough to be persuasive "
How manly. This guy always looks like he he has the energy level of a slug and the emotional affect of a piece of cardboard.
He should never sit in the emergency exit row on an aircraft.
"Recruited in part for their fund-raising prowess, they must pull money from their political bases in Democratic-friendly states to use for candidates who can win in states that Bush took in November."
And with 97 of the 100 fastest growing counties going to Bush, it is uphill for dems.
All talk with Dean, etc. has been about organization and money.
It is, however, ideas and beliefs that stand between dems and victories.
The Dems ought to try for something more achievable, such as losing less than 6 Senate seats in 2006.
Hope they keep up the good work....of expanding republican representation in the house and senate.
I think they are trying to find just ONE turnover in order to spindoctor some kind of victory.
Symbolism over substance.
They would not care if they brough back Zell Miller as long as a new "D" appears.
Yes? Whittling down that GOP majority? With Howard Dean at the head of the DNC? Good luck. You're gonna need it, Bubba.
Yarrrrrryarrrrrryarrrrr!!!!
In a related story, the Detroit Lions are aiming to win next year's Super Bowl.
And I aim for a date with Martina McBride. Neither one is gonna happen.
AP fails to note that 1998 elections disproved this trend with Dems picking up House seats.
