LOL!
NOT how I wanted it to sound.. but..
Guys wrestle about all the time, and it's nothing.
But this time it was women and it's 'something'.
*Quick keyboard bath prevention*
Ouch.
I smell the putrid flesh of a small-minded maggot-rotted biggot who wouldn't understand warfare if 500 lb bomb blew up one of his fellow countrymen, not that a wasted weasel like that has fellow countrymen.
Thank yuou sir, may I have another?
LOL!
ROFLMBO - wrong thread! Going to the corner now....
Another point worthy of note- This incident apparantly occured in October 04, and disciplinary actions have already been taken on a select few who were actively engaged. This means that a 15-6 and/or article 32 investigation has already taken place and there will most likely be more fallout to come.
We are winning in Iraq, thanks to brave members of our armed forces of all components, but incidents like these, regardless of how benign and tame they may seem on the surface, affect other miltary organizations in theater in adverse ways and also has repercussions on recruiting and retention back home. Perception is reality.
Read the comments in this thread by "Lunkhead_01" to see broadbrush smears.
I already did - I can't stomach to read them again.
Yeah.
I know.
I'm pretty ticked at the guy at the moment.
I'm sorry - the broad brush was being brandished by someone (LUNKHEAD) that you were originally agreeing with...my bad.
I'll give you that these two units were out of control - maybe. I'm all for whatever interrogation methods work if they save the life of even ONE of our military member. If panties on the head of a terrorist results in a soldier coming home safe and sound, so be it. So maybe I'm wierd, but I don't have all the facts about Abu Ghraib and I would give the bebfit of the doubt.
As for this incident, I guess I just believe that they were just blowing off steam. Flashing your boobs at the camera is not a brilliant move, obviously. But sheesh! They are putting their life on the line for me and I'm willing to let it slide...
Even if it's true that these two were out of control, you can't then assume that ALL Guard and Reserve units are like this, which is exactly what the other poster was attempting to do. Sorry I lumped you in with the lumphead.
"I learned long ago to demand statistics from people making ill-informed [edited offensive bit out] statements such as that one. "
And I demanded stats from you and all you could do was do the DU dance of "Abu Ghraib! Abu Ghraib!"
Please.
If you're going to smear and slam ALL National Guard and Reserve troops you'd BETTER have the proof to back you up.
I have been. I agree with his initial comment from the aspect that unit leaders should be held responsible as much or more so than the troops involved. The rest of what he has to say has no merit. Reserve Component soldiers do not have a monopoly on behaving badly any more than AC soldiers have a monopoly on demonstrating valor or serving honorably.
Soldiers, regardless of component, will get themselves into trouble if leaders provide the conditions, either actively or by neglect. This is as much a command/leader failure as it is a behaviorial problem by a group of soldiers.
However, this makes the third such incident by RC units in theater (First Abu Ghraib; Reserve members refusing to line haul fuel was the second incident)that has caught the attention of the international media, putting our effort there in a bad light. Leader failure played a major role in each one.
Point taken.
The poster's comments after that first post were outta line.
Especially his broad brush statements against ALL National Guard and Reserve troops.
Point taken.
One woman mud wrestling, it's the latest fad.
Sounds like a funny episode of M.A.S.H., although perhaps the young lady should have been more careful to remain clad.
Double ouch!!
Was mildly painful.
