Churchill is asked what should happen to America. "I want the state gone: Transform the situation to U.S. out of North America. U.S. off the planet. Out of existence altogether."

Another question: What are the solutions to U.S. misdeeds? Churchill answers in the interview: "One of the things I've suggested is that it may be that more 9/11's are necessary."

looks to me like he is calling for the violent overthrow of the US Government

"I'm backing this professor."

===

Me too. I was merely pointing out the outrageous double standard that exists. This professor states facts, in a straight forward manner and the left calls for his dismissal. Idiot Ward Churchill calls for violent terror attacks against innocent people in the US, and the left defends him.

Quick, Professor Hoppe, discover that you have "Native American" ancestry. It may be your only hope.

Freedom of Speech is NOT "liberal" mandated politically correct speech. Irrational and inane speech is also "free." However, there is one heck of a difference between an economics professor stating general facts about homosexual lifestyle and an ethnic studies professor calling 9/11 victims "little Eichmanns."

Freedom of Speech is only true and free if it allows criticism, rebuttal, analysis, contradiction and refutation as well as open to ridicule and to being socio-politically incorrect. So, in the spirit of being soc-poli incorrect:

Homosexuality and the Nazi Party : by Scott Lively

"That message is that homosexuals are currently and historically victims of irrational prejudice and that those who oppose homosexuality are hateful bigots. This all-important victim status engenders sympathy for the homosexual "cause" among well-meaning heterosexuals. Thus, millions of otherwise rational Americans support a movement whose sole unifying characteristic is a sexual lifestyle they personally find repugnant."
[...]
"The Homosexual Roots of the Nazi Party
The "gay rights" movement often portrays itself as an American phenomenon which arose from the civil rights movement of the 1950s. It is not uncommon to hear homosexualists (those both "gay" and "straight" who promote the legitimization of homosexuality) characterize "gay rights" as the natural third wave of civil rights activism (following blacks and women)..."In reality, however, Germany was the birthplace of "gay rights," and its legacy in that nation is truly alarming. The "grandfather of gay rights" was a homosexual German lawyer named Karl Heinrich Ulrichs."

Don't forget that they like to "defend" Illinois Nazis, too. (I hate Illinois Nazis.)

The athiests of the ACLU and their enablers in your scumbag Democrat Party are at war with traditional America and its values. Occasionally, they take a side which they silently abhor just so that they can feign impartiality. You might fall for their transparent con job, but I don't.

Let me know the next time the ACLU vigorously defends the First Amendment's right to free exercise of religion, okay Bunky? Or the next time they vigorously defend the Second Amendment.

The ACLU does things that get them publicity. Try to get their help if you have a civil rights case and you will find out that they plead poverty.

Perhaps we should spend less time attacking academic freedom in Colorado and more time defending it at UNLV.

Academic freedom doesn't include inciting terrorist attacks against your own country.

Unless you bite the bullet on this one, you will only empower PC administrators to deny the academic freedom of conservatives. In any case, let's not get in a pissing match about this right now. The important thing is to defend Hoppe. Please bumb this thread early and often.

Homosexuals don't plan for the future, they do things short-term.

That's why they're trying to get a professor fired: short-term gratification, even if in the long run it causes problems to fire professors for their views.

Did I say homosexuals? I meant right-wingers who want Churchill fired for not being pro-America.

It is sad, that you don't see the difference between stating FACTS calmly, as Hoppe has done, and calling for violent attacks on innocent people and the country, as Ward Churchill has done.

This is exactly what the liberals are trying to create: moral equivalence between reasonable statements and terrorist appeasers and worse. You and some others are falling into the same trap.

There IS, or should be such a thing as common sense, and an ability to discern one from the other.

What liberals want to defend Hoppe? With the exception of the ACLU, I don't see any. It is up to conservatives and freepers to defend him.

Has Hoppe stated the FACTS, or has he stated his opinion? Where are the facts he uses to back up his assertions?

Jim Lindgren, for one, isn't sure the facts back Hoppe up. (Lindgren is an academic and a blogger at the right-wing Volokh Conspiracy)

A few of us, such as the fine folks at Instapundit and Volokh conspiracy, are consistent in defending academic freedom across the board. Though we think Churchill is s scumbag, we realize that if he loses his tenure, it will be open season on the tenure of conservatives. Hard cases make bad law. The Churchill case is a perfect example.

I think the ACLU is in this fight in order to contrast with the anti-american Ward Churchill situation.

The communist founded ACLU NEVER takes any step unless if fits in their far left goals.

This professor is probably tenured and in zero danger.
