"I can't believe America didn't know," says Snagglepuss. "I mean, the cuff links, the flamboyance, the theater jargon -- plus, I'm pink, for heaven's sake!"

Maybe my folks did, but I was in blissful ignorance. Those were the days, when children got to have a childhood before adults with an agenda made it a priority to teach them all the things they can do with their pee-pees.

George of the Jungle swings both ways.

And then there's Curious George.

The entire cast of DRAWN TOGETHER. The gayest show bar none of any era. I actually watched that stupid thing twice.

The “Teenie" on the right is sooo gay. Not much of a role model though, LOL!

I recognize this is supposed to be light and funny. But, let me put another serious shot into this conversation.

In an attempt to ridicule the right by "exposing" these cartoons, Salon's writer merely shows their own stereotypical tendencies.

Mentioning pink, flamboyance...typical liberal hypocrisy.

I have been noticing from time to time when this subject has come up that many have thought of this as ridiculous, but it's true many of these characters are being used to normalize homosexuality to children. Disney even has a cartoon(The Proud Family) where there is an outright homosexual character displayed. The character is a boy whose name is Michael. Now it is never said that he is gay; however, he always wears lilac colored leotards, is very girlfriendish(if you know what I mean) and longs to be a hairdresser. Another thing I've noticed is how the girls on many of these shows are more masculine than the boys.

Batman is obviously gay. Why else would Bruce Wayne take in an underaged boy with no parents, dress him in a totally flamboyant costume, give him an androgynous moniker, teach him to "slide down the Bat Pole into the Bat Cave," all the while avoiding a curvaceous leather-clad Catwoman? The 'Bat' obviously doesn't refer to the flying mammal, but rather something a little more phallicly-symbolic!

How about Felix the Cat. He was always carrying around that pocketbook he called his "magic bag".

Popeye wasn't gay. Although fickle Olive Oil treated him like dirt, it's a wonder he stayed true.
