This garbarge filled crappy little canyon is in Imperial Beach, Ca...the most Southwest corner of the US. I live 1 mile north of it in the mid-80's. There's nothing there but sagebrush, common trees, and dirt.
But are you proposing that Environmental laws are just repealed in general, instead of passing a law that addresses a specific and limited security situation?
I am not a big supporter of many of the lastest environmental laws but if a good one is passed and a new law is proposed to address security concerns which would conflict with the enviro law, then repeal the enviro law OR amend it.
Passing law that conflict with existing law will pit one against the other and end up tieing up the courts further. IMHO.
Congress is the real regulating body.
Agreed as far as you went. Ultimately, the people are.
I think I can foretell the way Babs Boxer will vote, like she always does, in favor of anything that has to do with illegal immigration. Not sure of Feinstein.
*don't know if you saw this*
Sensenbrenner was discussing this with Roger Hedgcock this morning..(part of the conversation I missed).. Just FYI..
I missed it too.
Stop Right There! . . .or the bird gets it.
JAS.. Sensenbrenner made a point that the human trafficking etc., is already trampling the environment that (of course) the environmentalists ignore. So, the fence could do nothing worse than the smugglers are to the area.. thought it sounded rational.. again, I'd love to see the transcript.. I've emailed Rush's show and made the request.
Ahh yes, the lovely estuary, where Tijuana's raw sewage meets the sea. We wouldn't want to spoil that environmental jewel.
an illustration to your point: I was listening to Hispanic radio this afternoon, they were complaining about the increase in identity theft and were suggesting "committing your social security number to memory" and leaving the card in a safe place. Good advice for all of us, but I didn't expect to hear it from gung-ho illegal immigrant cheerleaders.
Based on what I read in this article, I can't agree. It's one thing to trample over the landscape. That definitely causes environmental damage. But what they're talking about here is leveling off a hilltop and filling in a valley. That sounds rather more drastic.
I put human smuggling over the environment any day. But, I would like to seem more specific detail to the damage by humans... Garbage, human waste, trampling of vegitation, cost to clean and patrol.
Finding excuses for criminals is criminal.. JMHO>
You are right.
