Keep digging Peggy. It's sad to watch you self destruct.

Peggy Noonan is so yesterday.
I read her book, What I Saw at the Revolution, like 15 years ago.
Please...

The NY Slimes has Maureen Dowd. WSJ has Peggy Noonan. Maybe the two should get together for a civil union.

What was it Johnny Carson said about leaving the limelight at the top of your game? Peggy, be a Carson.

This sort of question-yourself column is just about the height of hackneyed.
Noonan can do MUCH better.

How quickly we turn against our own! A month ago, Peggy Noonan was worshipped here. Now she's lumped in with Maureen Dowd over one crappy article? Let's hope Ann Coulter never has a bad hair day.

I just don't know why she's doing this. Why is she bashing on Bush for calling for more freedom? What's wrong with laying down a marker for liberty? This is where we are going, what is good for America and the world. We may not be perfect or consistent, but this is our destination, our goal.
And then the successful Iraqi elections came along -- and really proved her wrong.

She lost me with that one, I hope she enjoys the company of her new friends in the RAT party. Maybe we will see Peg dining out with Teddy Kennedy.

At least she kept her mouth shut last night. Actually there wasn't much for her to say after the successful Iraqi elections proved most of her doom and gloom warnings of over reaching to be wrong.

It's hard to defend her when she uses stupid words like Moi. Didn't like it when Miss Piggy said it, and don't like it now.

Maybe we will see Peg dining out with Teddy Kennedy. I'm betting she joins the Arianna Huffington 'kook' brigade. They can travel in the same Manhattan cocktail circuit and Arianna can introduce her to fellow celeb nutcases out on the Left Coast.

This article is from last Thursday. How come she didn't appear today in the WSJ? Hiding?
Curious to know what she thought of last night's SOTU.

I did a search and the article was never posted, even other Freepers didn't want to touch this one with a ten foot pole. If the world was ruled by the Peggy Noonans of the world we would still be in the dark ages. You can't fight a house fire with a garden hose you have to have big visions even if they may not be possible for another 50 years or so. Does she honestly think the modern Internet world is going to allow tyrants to last much longer ?

It wasn't that it was a crappy article, she writes plenty of syrupy, crappy articles. It was what she chose to criticize and by association those of us she criticized. President Bush, not Peggy Noonan, motivated one of the largest groups of volunteer foot soldiers in Republican history precisely because of the type of inspiration we felt after a speech like she chose to criticize.

I'm not one for throwing Peggy overboard over one (in my view) wrong analysis.
That said, this whole elegant tone thing by Peggy gives me the same cold shoulder I get when I realize that true blue staters might as well think I am from Mars. IOW, there's a subtle condescension here. There's a failure to grasp how the average person out there, the person who loves this country and, yes, loves George W. Bush, gets it.
I just feel like Peggy didn't get it. And she doesn't get it that we DO get it. As if it's impossible for us to get it if she doesn't get it.
I get the feeling that what she calls overreaching and embarrassing to her in this speech is the very stuff that embarrasses all the elites about us red state 'Mericans.
Sort of sad for Peggy.
