as a member at atkinson in my formative years, i can say this is definately wrong
My point is that when one starts from the shifting-sand foundation that rejects ultimate truth (Thy Word is Truth), it's tough to discern right vs wrong.
Welcome to FR.
I want to clarify the age isssue since some people seem to be confused. The boy was nine when Steve Bulleit became his foster parent in California. The investigators found evidence (likely videotapes) that date back until he was 11. They say the abuse has been ongoing until Bulleit's arrest last week.
Two more victims have been identified. More are expected as investigators peruse hundreds of hours of video.
Some time later I heard that my friends had discovered that this person was on probation for child sex abuse. I couldn't believe that he had been in my house while my son slept upstairs. I went down to the courthouse and looked up his case. It involved activities he had instigated with two young boys. I called his probabation officer and told her that I didn't feel quite right that this man participated in Civil War reenactments which are often visited by young children, particularly boys, who may look up to the reenacters.
She told me: "Your instincts are right on target." She said that he had been informed that he could not participate in this activity unless the commander of his Civil War unit was informed about his sex offender status.
(BTW I don't remember this guy's name. Maybe it's the same guy although I doubt it.)
