Indeed it is sad. However, for every report you read like this of a life taken by missuse of firearms, there are probably 5 not written about how a firearm saved someones life.
In a free society there we always be idiots that will abuse freedoms.

Stories with no information other than the headline are not my favorite.

The rules damn it!
As I learned them.
1. All guns are loaded.
2. Always point them in a safe direction.
3. Keep finget off of the trigger until ready to fire
4. Know your target and what is beyond the target
It's not that f'ing hard.

First, why are you harassing Dan...he's just expressing frustration with idiots who do stuff like in this story that makes it harder for law-abiding common sense people to be gun owners.
And second, don't misuse the "/sarcasm" tag. If people keep doing that around here, it will go the way of the "hold muh beer" that got twisted...

York, PA.Thanks. That is sad. I grew up near there (Mechanicsburg) and it seams there is a lot of such accidents in the area.

York, Pa? I used to go there a lot. Way back then it was a town with conspicuous Amish presence. I guess it's changed.

Yeah, I figured as much with a handle like "7.62 x 51mm." I wrote that for the bleeding hearts I figured would respond, not you. BTW - Are you a big fan of the 308 win cartridge, or just the NATO version?

Amish are close by. York has the Harley factory there. Haven't been there in years.

Just, Double damnit. Tragic and so bleeping preventable. You can not "Kid proof" a firearm, but you can "Gun proof" a kid. To late, though. Damnit.
