The author is an idiot. So the argument from the "fair tax" side is now reduced to name calling.

I'm getting quite an education........and am very thankful I'm not getting hit with the troll bombs I don't know about everyone here, but I can generally smell the difference between a troll and an honest disagreement or question.
Shalom.

"There is not enough correct content in this article to really discuss."I think the point of posting it was so that correct information could be shared.

The bottom line'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">bottom line is that the best way to curtail an activity is to tax it. You mean like on cigarettes, alcohol, gasoline and drugs? LOL...
To: RobRoy
It would also destroy our economy because people like me would cut their spending dramatically. As far as I can tell, people like you and me who actually think before we spend are rare. And we probably already only buy what we think is worthwhile based on a VERY different scale than the rest of the nation, so our spending habits probably won't change all that dramaticaly.
Shalom.

The reason I prefer the NRST over the flat tax is that the NRST GETS THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR PERSONAL BUSINESS! Why do we think it's the divine right of government to know every little scrap of income we have? And to have the authority to tax us on it? Why do we unquestioningly comply with this?
The only beneficiaries are the people who can legally pick your pocket (or outright rob you) through the current tax code.

Well said. -- And you can bet your bottom dollar that those who are arguing here against the Fair Tax have that hand in your pocket, - as we speak.
This proposal breaks their rice bowl.

So the argument from the "fair tax" side is now reduced to name calling. I think, if you read the thread, that there's a lot more content than name-calling here. The author is an idiot, or, at the very least, very ill-informed about the NRST. The accounts of this idiocy are well detailed in the other 200+ posts on the thread.

A retail sales tax would make the freeloaders pay something. That contradicts what has been promoted earlier in this thread. I thought it was "voluntary" as long as you bought untaxed necessities and kept your spending below the FCA (Family Consumption Allowance) limit.

The infamous Harvard study showed businesses would like to relocate their HQ back to the US under the FairTax.
Also, with the income tax going away, actual taxation would not increase unless you choose to spend like a drunken sailor.

Under the NRST I don't report to the government a thing. Retailers report their retail sales in taxable items. That's it. No personal information is collected by the feds on my spending habits or my income or anything. How then will you get your monthly Family Consumption Allowance rebate?

Thanks. ;-D As you can tell, I'm VERY enthusiastic about the NRST, for the reasons I mentioned.
