May the good Lord continue to bless and keep you, Dr. Rice.
May He guide in your tenure as Secretary of State.
Congratulations, Condi!

It takes a conservative philosophy to look past skin color to see someone's inherent value and dignity as a person I second that and add an AMEN! :-)

Madeline Albright's father was Condi's first mentor. I'll be he's secretly wishing she was his daughter.

Ginsburg did an excellent job of swearing in Condi. If you can watch it re run on CSPIN, do so.

Editor must have took a long weekend.

Not only is she the best choice for SOS due to her awesome
credentials and intellect, but she is going to drive certain
raggy headed male dictators to the suicide watch ward.
I just hope she will be traveling with a double contingent
of Secret Service men and maybe a platoon of combat hardened
Marine sharpshooters.

I am not sure on the dates, but in one of the articles that was on FR after the announcement of her nomination it contained the information. I know that her mother died last. I believe that it was before GWB was elected to the WH.

Should have checked the thread. There is always another FReeper who has the right information. I guess I am having more senior moments than I thought. LOL
Thanks Chris! I did a quick check of her biography and couldn't find the correct information.

Hard to be ideological during a swearing in, isn't it?
Btw, "CSPIN"? Lol...
To: F16Fighter
Now that CSPIN is scripted and screened it's impossible to watch.
The callers seem to pride themselves on being imbeciles.
The more outrageous the more the host loves them.

Does anyone know why Rice chose the very liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg to swear her in?
I know her unusual name had to do with her parents liking some kind of Italian musical note con 'dolcezza' - to play "with sweetness". I would have thought she would have chosen the only Italian justice on the bench-- Scalia.
