Or perhaps the writer is referring to the "God Bless America" that is now sung at the seventh inning stretch?

To: Alas Babylon!
Since 911, baseball has adopted the tradition of playing God Bless America, along with Take Me Out to the Ballgame, during the seventh inning stretch.

"Translation: 'As long as the guy hits 30+ hrs and knocks in 100+ rbis every year and he's not breaking the law, we couldn't care less what Delgado does.'"Yep.
The biggest "mortal sin" for some owners and fans is a sub-par performance.
I suspect rejecting the same money in New York ($52m) for the anticipated grief and booing was a factor in Delgado instead choosing "safe" southern Florida.

I have been a follower of the Blue Jays since day 1 and while he has set a lot of team offensive records I must say I have never been happier to be rid of a particular player.
