The Bible is meant to be read, studied, memorized, meditated upon and applied.

Zondervan and their ilk have abandoned Christian service for religious profiteering.

Treating the Bible so tritely as to publish it like a flavor of the month club is no better than people confiscating and destroying Bible's.

If Christians had a little discernment in seeking counsel from the faithful, these versions wouldn't exist.

. . .The major difference between Today's New International Version and yesterday's NIV, the most widely used contemporary Bible translation (which will still be available), is that the new translation features "inclusive language." That is, many words referring to the male gender (the generic "he," "father," "brothers") will be changed to also include the female gender ("they," "parent," "brothers and sisters").

The TNIV publicists, in a bit of Orwellian doublespeak, are calling such revisions "gender-accurate" language. The problem, however, comes when the language is not accurate to the original text.

Just what we need: another politically-driven, compromised paraphrase, marinated in dishonesty and double-crossing, and passing itself off as a translation.

PERfect.

It seems that for a long time Zondervan has been hell-bent (pun intended) on producing a PC version of the Bible.

It seems they have decided to adopt some of Obama’s tactics. Act as though you are a moderate, not let anyone see the text, and then push something through as quickly as possible before anyone has time to object.

Once the full TNIV text is out there (especially in electronic form), it will be impossible to recall.
