Is Poppy speaking for Jr. or for the Henry Kissinger/James Baker wing of the party?
Judging by some of the threads on this speech the admonition is warranted.
Bush I playing the good cop to Bush II's bad.
.
NEVER FORGET
BUSH I = Reaffirming BUSH II
...Saturday's very 1st Caller of the day into C-SPAN's 'Washington Journal' TV Interview Show clearly stated at 7:15am Washington, D.C. Time for the nation and White House to hear...
...that BUSH II's call to bring Freedom to all human hearts of the world was not new, that he really has been doing this ever since right after the Attacks of Sept. 11th.
...Why, the only thing this Caller forget to say was his normal "ALOHA" Greeting as he began to speak. He went on to say, about Europe's negative reaction to BUSH II's Innaugural Speech and its effect on their relationship with us, was that in order for relationships to be good ..they first have to be base upon REALITY.
...And that means that BUSH II's reminder the night before his Innaugural Speech that America has has a unique and special calling "From beyond the stars" to bring Freedom and Liberty to every human heart" is also our best way of preventing future terrorst attacks here at home.
...This has been BUSH II's immediate response to 9/11.
...People just haven't been listening close enough to the man.

Not Extrapolating, No, we're not..
Wouldn't be Prudent.. Wouldn't be prudent..
Not extrapolating..
Just saying, Freedom, GOOD..
No, not poppy. A former President speaking out as is his right like carter and clintin.
I'll agree with that.
You just beat me to the same observation...
I for one think ex-presidents should just shut up and go away.. And that includes you, too, George Sr.
Only progressives, dictators, thugs, tyrants, pimps and thieves would shudder at the mere mention of freedom. Freedom is from God. Not man.
The Brent Scrowcroft wing of the party.
There is a reason that Poppy gave an award to Ted Kennedy at a time when he was the leading critic of George W.'s foreign policy. I suspect that there also is a reason that George W. invited his father to the ranch for Thanksgiving in 2003, then snuck out of town to be with the troops in Iraq.
.
Actually,
Vietnamese, Korean and Cuban-Americans have been among those really listening the closest to President BUSH's promising Freedom's return to still Communist Vietnam, Communist Cuba and Communist North Korea.
That's why so many of them registered Republican in droves so they could vote for President BUSH's 2nd Term in Office.
.
President George W Bush is not a "Jr." You might show some respect to the President. The President probably didn't see your post so he could care less.

And speaking of Friend of FIDEL CASTRO and HILLARY mouthpiece Sen. BARBARA BOXER's lying TV assault on CONDI RICE:

Thanks, Pop. I cannot believe the way people -- left and right -- are reading so much into this speech. It was just a speech about tone or philosophy if you will. The President was emphasizing what our great nation is about. We commit to doing the hard thing when necessary, not taking the easy path.
I know this thread is several days old, but what are you trying to say here?
"There is a reason that Poppy gave an award to Ted Kennedy at a time when he was the leading critic of George W.'s foreign policy. I suspect that there also is a reason that George W. invited his father to the ranch for Thanksgiving in 2003, then snuck out of town to be with the troops in Iraq."
I'm trying to say that I think that the father of the current President was very comfortable with the don't-rock-the-boat school of international relations. His close aide, Brent Scowcroft, was highly critical of the current administration for pursuing the cause of freedom outside of the US.
After Brent Scowcroft criticized President Bush 43, and President Bush 41 gave a medal to Teddy Kennedy even as he was becoming increasingly shrill, I think that this must have annoyed President Bush 43.
I am not a psychiatrist, but I suspect that President Bush 43 was, at the least, tweaking his father when he invited him to join him at the ranch in Midland for Thanksgiving, only to secretly fly away to Iraq and show support for the troops.
By the way, in looking at more recent exchanges between Presidents Bush 41 and 43, it appears that the division between them has healed on a personal level, even though President Bush 41 occasionally reveals his disagreements with his son's policies. This is exactly what he did when he minimized his son's speech.
In my opinion, President Bush 41 has no business infantilizing his son, by telling people that Bush 43 doesn't mean what he says. This is classic enabling behavior, and it is both unnecessary and condescending.
Aren't you glad you asked?
Yes, I am glad I asked.
I agree with much of what you said. Especially about 41 liking the "not rocking the boat".
I'm just not sure about any little games between 41 and 43. But that could be right.
The President wasn't gone really at that long on Thanksgiving and he left behind Laura and the girls also, so I have a hard time with that one.
The Kennedy thing? Maybe.
I very much agree with you here...
"In my opinion, President Bush 41 has no business infantilizing his son, by telling people that Bush 43 doesn't mean what he says. This is classic enabling behavior, and it is both unnecessary and condescending."
A little bit of resentment that the son did better than he did?
Make that the NWO/Kissinger/Baker wing.
