Yes, it is an awesome place and we love it. The brutal cold is getting harder to handle the older we get, but someday we plan on moving farther south (in Alaska) and then maybe I'll finally be able to see the Iditarod in person too.
you may know far more about clothes, but you have a lot to learn about taste and appropriate dress for a Texas style celebration...IMHO
Sorry you have to endure other's negative opinions, but I found your fashion comments very interesting and informative. You know whereof you speak.
As an engineer, I'm more attuned to architecture, but I enjoy art and fashion, because, like buildings, they all employ design and aesthetics.
When you mentioned Caroline Herrera before, I was surprised that I actually knew who she was. I must be watching the Style network too much.
You seem to have an intimate knowledge of high fashion, and I found your comments to be well within the bounds of legitimate design critique.
Hope to see more of it in the future.
For what it is worth, my only comment is that Jenna's gown's horizontal stripes did not work. Banding doesn't work well on buildings, either!!!
No,I don't have anything to "learn about taste and appropriate dress for a Texas style celebration." But thanks for playing. :-)
I'm not an architect, but I have a great appreciation for good architecture.Maybe someday there'll be a thread here about buildings and I can benefit from your knowledge on that topic.:-)
I didn't call her babe, I said she looked sexy... Did I lie?
my post was indirectly a jab at this post:

Sorry for the confusion.
Well, as long as you believe that, that's all that really matters.
(Personally, I think you are in a snit because you didn't get invited to the ball....)
JMHO, but you don't know what "ball" gowns are supposed to look like, do you? They all look great. Of course, I prefer blue jeans, myself.
Opossum on the half-shell.
Looks like Dick is getting ready to squeeze the cheese in post 67!
"Bustle"! I was trying to think what to call that layover effect at the back of the bodice. Perfect description.
I LOVE the dress. And, with the jewelry, I can't imagine describing it as not elegant enough. This isn't THE inaugural ball...it's a fancy, dress-up hoedown.
I don't like the girls' dresses, but I sure wish we'd seen who their escorts were. (Jenna's been sporting a small diamond on her left hand!)
< Laura's dress design is really stunning and she looks drop dead gorgeous in it. >
I agree. It fits the occasion. It's not supposed to be a wedding dress and flashy is for tomorrow night.
Doocey cracks me up!
< I' not the only one on this thread who don't like the dresses the Bush women wore. But I'm the ONLY one being yelled at. LOL >
But you're the only one who keeps pushing the issue. Perhaps that has something to do with it. I don't particularly love Jenna's dress, but I only need to say it once.
< Look, I have my opinion, and in my opinion the dresses are unattractive. Why does that bother you so much? >
Now wait one minute. Only nonpardons is being picked on. She already said so. ROTFLMAO.
Jenna's ring is not an engagement ring. Some girls like to wear rings on that hand because it gives them an aura of intrigue. Some do it because they get tired of being hit on by every guy they see, so they hope the ring will be off-putting.
In an interview not too long ago, Laura was asked if Jenna or Barbara had boyfriends, and she said neither girl was seeing anyone really special. Soon after she said that, those who hadn't heard it saw Jenna sitting next to a young man in a White House family gathering on Election night, and they saw her ring, too. Jumped to the conclusion the young man was her fianceé...ha ha ha...it was one of her male cousins.
oh... yea, I wasn't looking at Laura in a lustful way or anything. She is old enough to be my mother. :) Although she does look good for age #43 is a lucky man.
Awwwwww. (pouting here)
