Shall I suggest that you find a small island, move there, and enjoy your anarchy?

Anyone who has serious problems with the celebration of the Inauguration of a President has more problems than can be dealt with here.

I'm sure they share your sentiments about this Inauguration on DU, though, so you might want to sign up there if you haven't already done so.........

If anyone has problems with the added security/military presence needed at this particular Inauguration, I believe the proper target of his/her anger should be the terrorists, and not the President.

I simply believe that the government shouldn't be blowing taxpayer dollars on big parties. It's waste. DUers are mad simply because they don't like Bush. I'm mad simply because I support the concept of government austerity.

Well, then you should acknowledge that the government ISN'T 'blowing taxpayer dollars' on this big party.

The 'party' part of it is donated, and the security part is required.

Blame Thomas Jefferson if you don't like the Inauguration pomp. Blame the terrorists if you don't like the cost of security.

I was going to say something and then I say your name! Says it all!!!

Yes it does. The two parties constantly waste taxpayer dollars and have the rules set up so that they can play their little games to further their power at our expense, with no competition. Neither is willing to challenge the situation to the benefit of the people because the challenger may later want to take advantage of the exact same thing.

About my name, it was inspired by Washington's farewell address:

They [parties] serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels and modified by mutual interests.
Take it up with him.

Because they decided to have a big party. Jefferson walked back to his boarding house after giving a short speech.

Swear Bush, or any president, in with a quiet ceremony in the Capitol. There, I just saved us millions of dollars. Or, I wonder how many HMMWVs that much money could armor.

Ooooooh.......I think you just outted yourself.

Using leftist talking points isn't a good idea (around people who know what they are) if you're trying to disguise yourself as a conservative.

Leftist/Rightist doesn't matter if its true. The government has not maxxed out the capacity of the manufacturers to produce more armor -- it simply hasn't allocated the funds.

Whether it's armor or any other duty that the government is constitutionally required to do, this money could have been used better. I'll use a more right example: How many more border guards could we have hired to stop the illegal aliens?
