Are you suggesting PRIVATE CITIZENS should be able to sign up for SGLI?

No, when I suggest something there is no doubt about it because too many people on this forum can't read without making silly ass assumptions.

Oops! Did I just suggest that you made a silly ass assmption? Yes. Yes I did.

Some people think that the dead troops' family only gets the death benefit which is very untrue. SGLI benefits are cheap and not stingy.

My point is that many of the same people that work with the troops and share the dangers, and get killed in the line of duty, don't have much company life insurance, cannot obtain commercial insurance and certainly don't get any death gratuity. But, as I sarcastically noted, who cares? They're just greedy mercenary contractors.

How you got universal government employment out of that is beyond me.

The military already offers life insurance for its troops and sailors. This increase is not necessary.

I am sorry you feel that way, and I respect your minority opinion on this issue.

My father was in WWII and stayed in afterwards. Died on active duty with the rank of Lt. Col. at Ft. Hood, TX, in 1956. My mother got $10,000 life insurance and some VA payments until we were all 18 y.o.
