At the time, she claimed that she wasnt a one issue person.Well she's had ample opportunity to show her qualities, and she's shown herself to be a solid left of Marx democrat with a special hatred of the right to own firearms. LI people keep electing her, so that would appear to make the majority of them solid left of Marx democrats with a special hatred of the right to own guns also.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, New York would be per capita one of the wealthiest countries in the world, well ahead of the US as a whole. There is very little actual wealth creation that goes on in NYC. It takes credit for corporate headquarters and the NYSE, but if it were cut off from the real sources of productivity it would soon resemble Havana or Lagos.

I say make NYC It's own Nation... A two-for-one deal, 'cuz the UN would then be out of the US.

NYC doesn't don't realise what a wacky idea this is.
How could they continue to rape and pillage the upstate if they no longer control the state government?

That's a very interest idea...If we were to return to the original proportions from 1785, what would the numbers be?

Oh and for your economic education, draw an imaginary fence around NYC and don't let anything in or out and see how long it takes to run out of everything. Wealth transfer yes. Wealth creation - a resounding no.

Transparant attempt by liberals to gain two more Democratic Senators
Not really. It would probably add two Republican senators. Without the massive Democrat vote from NYC, the state of New York would be a Red state.

NY already has two Liberal senators, I think it would be a golden opportunity to elect two republican senators from upstate. I wish Illinois would do the same thing to we downstaters could get the boil off of our but called Chicago. Without Chicago a liberal senator wouldn't have a chance of getting elected in IL.

There would be just over 4,900 congressmen in the House with our population as large as it is these days.
The House membership was just over 60 when the population was 3.5 million in 1790.

This would be a heck of a benfit to the State of NY. Right now, NYC is the tail that wags the dog. Making NYC a state would leave the rest of the citizens of NY state in control of their own fate.
Meanwhile NYC would either go bankrupt or else reform and become the US answer to Hong Kong.

The Founders wanted about 50,000 people per Representative to keep the House responsive and the members "known" to their communities. It's now around 667,000 citizens per Congressman.
