Nazis bombed England. Its personal for them. Think 911.
Nazis bombed England. Its personal for them. Think 911.And the Normans kicked their arses at Hastings - but I don't think there'd be outrage if Harry had shown up dressed as William the Conquerer.
True - Time heals alot of pain - but the 1940s are alot closer in most peoples minds than 1066.
but the 1940s are alot closer in most peoples minds than 1066.You're right of course, but I still think that Hitler -- though rightfully demonized -- is singled out, while every other mass-murderous thug (especially Marxist) gets a free pass
Don't bother. He's an elitist snob who throws books at his servants, dresses (in private) in Arabic/Lawrence of Arabia togs, and dates a Rottweiler.
Agreed. Why is no one pointing out that turning something into a Halloween costume is hardly a sign of respect. His outfit was a goof on the Nazis, not their victims. I'd compare to the people I see on Halloween dressed up like the Pope or a Priest. I don't think they're doing it to espouse the values of the Catholic Church. If this stunt was so incredibly rotten they should arrest the owner of the costume shop for daring to rent something so evil and dangerous. Ridiculous.
However, someone at the palace messed up in not monitoring Harry's activities and giving him proper advice. It's obvious that the young man needs guidance, and he wasn't getting it - or he wasn't open to receiving it.
I taped all those Young Ones eps from MTV in the 80's. I used to sympathize with poor Neil, he couldn't even make a decent pot of lentils for dinner.
Looks like the little Nazi knew what he was doing. They refuse to let him apologize in person, because they are afraid he would sound insincere.
LOL. I think mine was Special Patrol Group (AKA Hello Cliff Richard).
So, according to your logic, it is OK to be a closet Nazi, just don't show this in public?
I agree this incident is being over-reported. Harry apologized for his stupid costume and I'm sure he heard about what he did over and over from his father and grandmother, etc.
Harry strikes me as a lonely troubled kid whose mother's sudden and violent death has traumatized him - maybe for good. Someone of my acquaintance lost his mother prematurely - to Lupus. The child was 9, the mother was 29 and he is completely messed up to this day (even with therapy).
Bunches.
If I were Harry I would tell everyone where they could kiss it. He never asked for all this attention he happened on it by birth.
Wherever did you get that idea? I didn't say anything of the sort. Why are you stretching my words into something nonsensical?
Harry's a young man, just out of school, and he chose a costume for a private party. It's like Halloween, kids dress up as vampires and witches because it strikes them as cool...it doesn't mean they're into Satanism. Same with Harry, he chose what he thought was a neat costume. He didn't think ahead that some people would find it inappropriate.
Right on, Chuck.
I learned from Neil also that if the "big one" is coming, paint myself white to deflect the blast, and get under a table. I see they're available now on DVD, I have to own them sooner or later.
The world abounds in victims looking for someone unload their baggage on.
Even on this forum you'll find oversensitive libelers willing to trash your reputation (as if they really knew anything about you) if you even touch on the wrong subject. Happens to all of us.
Alrite, whatever. Point is, don't go insinuating people are bad and trashing their reputations based on 1 nebulous statement written on a forum. It's wrong not to mention foolish. Period.
