In addition, I find it fascinating that not only has WAFF threatened a lawsuit against AFA but has also REMOVED most of the offensive pro-gay pages from its site, especially the ones that AFA has specifically referenced (including #'s 1, 3 & 4 from my earlier post). Is this an attempt at making peace or an attempt at removing evidence?? (for more info on this see: http://www.earnedmedia.org/sbm0125.htm )

With the recent public scrutiny -- some of the public web page 'resources' (materials that are to accompany the 'innocuous' video) have begun to mysteriously disappear?

No worry, thanks to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine & Google (archive function) -many of the pages are still available to document the objectively 'stealth' campaign to promote acceptance and tolerance of homosexuality to grade school and pre-school aged children.

-small archived excerpts from various pages of the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) website:

  1. WAFF - Writing for Change (Worksheet -- part of item 3, below, asking questions to prompt writing on sexual orientation of fellow students and the feelings the knowledge of their orientation generates)
  2. WAFF - Tolerance Pledge (Tolerance Pledge that includes "...I pledge to have respect for people whose ... sexual identity [among other items listed]... [is] different from my own."
  3. WAFF - Using This Guide ("Using This Guide" part of "Writing for Tolerance", includes the hope that this guide will "...reach people in a broad range of ages, classes, sexual orientations, [list continues] ...)
  4. WAFF - List of Resources (list of resources including: American Psychological Association. "Answers to Your Questions About Sexual Orientation and Homosexuality." Washington, D.C.: American Psychological Association, 1998. By the Way, this is the FIRST resource listed!!; Also listed: Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. "Faith in Our Families: Parents, Families and Friends Talk About Religion and Homosexuality." Washington, DC: Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, 1999; “Lesbian Baiting and Gay Baiting: How Homophobia is a Tool of Sexism.” 1991. (Of course, NO listings by Courage, PFOX or any other pro-gay-change/ex-gay resource)
  5. WAFF - 101 Ways to Combat Prejudice: In Your Community (101 Ways to Combat Prejudice #93: Meet with school and community librarians and local bookstores to discuss ways to highlight literature that is representative of all cultures and sexual orientations. #95: Research your community's involvement in struggles for civil and human rights throughout history (e.g., abolition, the civil rights movement, the women's rights and gay rights movements, etc.) and create an exhibit for the local library/town hall.
  6. WAFF - 101 Ways to Combat Prejudice: In Your School (101 Ways to Combat Prejudice #14: Initiate classroom discussions of terms such as anti-Semitism, racism, sexism, homophobia and bias. Then compose a list of definitions and post it in a prominent place. #40: Organize a No-Ethnic/Homophobic Humor Open-Mike Nite featuring stand-up comedy by students.
  7. WAFF - Developing A Common Language "Developing A Common Language" is this: Heterosexism -- Heterosexism is prejudice and/or discrimination against people who are or who are perceived to be lesbian, gay or bisexual. Homophobia is the irrational fear of people who are believed to be lesbian, gay, or bisexual.
  8. WAFF - "Miss America 2004 -- Tolerance Out, Understanding In" ("Miss America 2004 -- Tolerance Out, Understanding In" By Lauren Parker {Interviewing the Current Miss America, who is African-American}: "Dunlap also explains that 'acceptance' needs to spread far beyond black-white race issues, and far beyond race in general. 'America isn't just black and white, so I don't approach my platform from just a racial standpoint,' she says. 'It's about uplifting everyone--people of all varied religious beliefs, sexual orientations, class differences, cultural diversities, and the like.' "
  9. WAFF - Guide Activities (PDF) ("We Are Family" Guide Activities geared to grades Pre-K through Grade 12, including: {from high school activity -- "Pyramid of Hate"} "...Ask the students if they can think of examples of genocide that occured due to race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, etc...."; {also from "Pyramid of Hate"} Student Handout including these questions: Have you Ever... Overheard a joke that made fun of a person of a different ethnic background, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation? Have You Ever... Been the target of name calling because of your ethnic group, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation? Have You Ever... Engaged in stereotyping (lumping together all people of a particular race, religion, or sexual orientation?)

Again, in my opinion, this WAFF effort amounts to denial of just discrimination and but stealth promotion of homosexuality to children. Now it would appear there is an attempt to hide the stealth effort...

Thanks!!

To further prove the makers' intentions, some of the makers have also produced an episode of "Postcards from Buster" (An Arthur Spin-off on PBS) that shows them visiting a real lesbian couple with a child in Vermont. The Bush Administration heard about it and has denied it being able to air it on PBS, but I guess FCC rules state that individual stations are free to air it if they wish but it will not be shown nationally (The Boston affiliate -- WGBH -- who was one of the producers is still planning on airing it.)

BTW -- Arthur, Buster and the gang ALL appear on the SpongeBob video as well! Coincidence????

Since this forum is still active, let me throw in my two cents:

The We Are Family Foundation website hosted the "Writing For Change" lesson plans. These taught topics such as:

- "Heterosexuality leads to the notion of women as inherently 'weak', and the institutionalized inequality of power: power of men to control women's sexuality, labor, childbirth and childrearing, physical movement, safety, creativity and access to knowledge."
- Help students examine assumptions about the "natural order" in gender relationships.
- Write the first sentence in a description of the term "lesbian"
- Specify the characteristics that learners think define a person as homosexual.
- Talking About Being "Out"
- Uncovering Attitudes About Sexual Orientation
- Introduce the concepts of homophobia and compulsory heterosexuality

Since all the controversy, the We Are Family Foundation have conveniently removed the "Write For Change" and lots of other material from their website. But you can still access old copies through the Google "cache" feature, which web pages that have been removed

The We Are Family Foundation had a section called "Educational Gateway" which was removed. Here is a link that still shows it:

http://www.wearefamilyfoundation.org/MOVIES/WAFF_ChildrensDVD_Single.htm

There were sections for Parents, Teachers and Kids. You can't get to this from the home page any more.

To find the "Writing For Change" on WAFF, use this Google search:

site:www.wearefamilyfoundation.org "section i"

Use the Google "cached" link to see what used to be there. Google retrieved this page from WAFF on January 25, 2005.

The "Kids" link is still there:
http://www.wearefamilyfoundation.org/kids/Kids_Index.swf

To get from Kids to alternet.org you
- Click on "kids 10 and up"
- Click "News"
- Click on "Do you Believe?"
This will open alternet.org in another window.

The articles a kid could find on alternet.org includes:

* Masturbate Online! - In the "we're not sure we're part of the United States" Bay Area, we like to enjoy a little masturbation with our free speech - www.masturbate-a-thon.com

* You Sexy Animal, You - Bestiality is back, and its hotter than ever, now that famed bioethicist Peter Singer has taken up "the love that dare not bark its name."

* The World's Weirdest Sex Machines - What do you get when you cross a bicycle rim, three pairs of used women's shoes, and a metal chain gear? Why, the best masturbation device available in 1920s Germany, of course. Such curious inventions dot the landscape of the little-known history of sexual machinery.

Some of these articles have links to other sites. For example, once you're on www.masturbate-a-thon.com there's plenty of places to go.

Nile Rodgers, the We Are Family Foundation guy, says the only reference to sexual orientation is their "tolerance pledge". That's not the case.

If parents want to know that WAFF endorses, this is just a sampling.

Barney? isn't he a "megaSOREa$$"? And hangs around with a lickedalottapus?
I hope Nina is reading this. I suspect that, because she's well-inculcated, it won't change her mind that homos are out to sexualize children but ya never know.....
