MoDo followed the 'rules' of the 1970s...she obviously was educated, more than likely has a post graduate degree of some kind, excelled in her education, got into her profession and excelled there (anyone would be really proud of that Pulitzer). She did everything her peers (ie., the feminist movement) told her to do, and she did it incredibly well. So, how does some little, no education other than the community college, working in the word processing pool woman wind up married and she (MoDo) doesn't? Those other women didn't spend their early 20s in relatively meaningless-other than the degree-grad programs. They didn't spend their early thirties working all of the time. Women who made choices other than the path chosen by MoDo and her ilk are resented...I have seen this personality in women of my generation. Once you find you can't go back and change your choices, you start to resent the choices made by others. And, when you are alone, no husband/boyfriend/significant other, or children to fill your time, you have the opportunity to ponder the decisions you have made. Ms. Dowd is having a midlife, I would guess menopausal crisis. I feel sorry for her that it is being done so publicly.
That's a question only you can answer. Do you "start (your) nagging wife routine?" If you do, then there's your answer.
He's been doing it for as long as we've been married. And we didn't know each other for that long before we married (I proposed only three weeks after we met, and then he left for basic training, and we got married right after he graduated), so I hadn't really had the opportunity to do any serious nagging.
Who'd date a bitter old bat? I sure as heck wouldn't. She's only got herself to blame for her bitter loneliness.
ROFL!!
Are my claws showing? hehehe
The claws you had manicured the other day? LOL
That seems accurate on some level, but I find it interesting how all the Oprah and Dr. Feeeeeeeel and Lifetime shows rarely turn this around and examine the truth about what women want from men. Women in the media are very quick to dissect what motives men have about women, but they're surprisingly mum on what women want from men. It's as if they're afraid to admit something.
Feminism did one very big favor for a lot of men. They escaped a relationship which they had been stuck in forever in the years before the women got "libbed".
Lucky you. Mine would eat it ALL and wouldn't care if I nagged! LOL!
Yup... I got a good scratch post.

I've seen and heard her on a couple panel/interview shows. Her personality and behavior is as unattractive, indeed as off-putting, in person, as she is in her writing. Plus, when forced to speak spontaneously, she is inarticulate and has nothing to say.
There just isn't much to this person. Without celebrity, she is a thoroughly uninteresting cipher. Too bad she fancies herself the next Katherine Hepburn, or maybe Dorothy Parker. She isn't close.
Ah, very nice. :)
With all the drinking, gambling, whoring, etc., men out there...THIS is a problem? He wants to rebel in one small way.
Think about what it means. He leaves it for you.
I never said it was a problem. I was simply wondering if some devoted husbands that were on the thread at the time had ever done or encountered such a thing. The "nagging" part was mostly added for humor.
I realize how lucky I am to be married to my husband.
Agreed! LOL
Did you ever think that maybe they just fall for the wrong type of person over and over again? A friend of mine did until she finally realized it and then, years later, met and married her true love.
That's exactly what happens.
I'd just hate to be one of the "learning experiences." People tell me that divorce is one of the most painful things in the world.
I think it's much more interesting to talk about how he fits into the conservative movement, but no one ever wants to talk about that here.
...um...you joined us in 2004...Rush has been on the air for 16 years...and a good part of the time his "fit" in the conservative movement has been a "numero uno" discussion here.
We're talking YEARS!!!
