So...this article brings up a number of important points. A couple of the most infuriating hypocrisies of conservatives and Bush in particular are the so-called respect for life (Pro-Life) yet unwavering support of the DEATH penalty and the invocation of God in the support of both. It is completely incongruous. Ever since I first encountered Sister Helen Prejean, I realized it is completely and utterly absurd to call yourself a religious person and support the Death Penalty. To say you believe in the power of forgiveness and turn around and show incalculable vengeance makes no sense. That's point one. The other thing implicit in this article, not having to do with religion is the role of our soon to be Attorney General in Bush's decision making process. Like Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld, Gonzales tells Bush what he wants to hear. These 30-minute clemency updates show how the torture memos came to be. Thus, we have a group of people with little to no respect for life (torture, vengeance, war) and nobody in the circle to question this. We already are a culture of death blinded to believe in optimism when every decision we make results in bloodshed, the fact that those who run our country continue to insulate themselves is that much more frightening.

God forgives the murderer if he repents of his killing an innocent...the state condemns the act and enforces the punishment. Should God forgive, that murderer has the chance at eternal life. At least, the murderer has the choice to prepare to meet his Maker. Unfortunately, the murdered victim may not have had the opportunity to do the same.

You may be gone and not be able to read my post, but here goes;

1] The death penalty is meant as the last PUNISHMENT for certain crimes [ie, murder,rape,treason ect...]

2] The Gonernator of any state will not go against what their staff tell them

3] If there was any way that this person did not do the crime then it would have come out in the appeals process.

4] This person was found guilty by a jury of 12 persons of that community, and had NO reasonable doubt what so ever.

So let the chips fall where they may, let the execution be done and let this person plead his case with GOD.

George W. Bush during his six years as governor of Texas presided over 152 executions, more than any other governor in the recent history of the United States.

I knew it was Bush's fault. It had nothing to do with the murdering POS' out there. I'll bet all of those animals that were executed were taking their families (they all have family values) on a picnic prior to going to church and the evil cops grabbed them and tortured them until they made a false confession. Yeah, that's the ticket. /sarcasm off
