I don't know, I actually think it's kinda funny. Why do people run in the winter with little clothes on? I think it's weird too!

That should read you'd be absolutely right. I'll add that right after the snow finishes all kind of people are jogging in Central Park. McGruder should get out more often.

ROTFL - look at my post 117 ;~D

At least Seattle is that way. The older east coast cities maybe less so.

Black people don't jog in the snow, they'd get arrested for suspicion of some crime.

LOL!

Why do people run in the winter with little clothes on?

You'll overheat and die from a heat stroke if you wear too much clothing. /sarcasm.

Back in my youth when I did and could run, I actually preferred running when the weather was cooler. The folks that run at noon in 100 degree weather are the crazy ones.

So wait... this cartoon, and the Santa one you mention, basically portray blacks as lazy. That's suddenly okay again? Wow, we have made a lot of progress in race relations in this country.

It's true that as black man the author has more freedom to discuss racial issues than a white cartoonist would, but that's hardly his fault.

That's true. I think of Eddie Murphy. He says some of the most outrageous things about blacks and whites. Think about about the movie Trading Places. On one hand it could be considered racist from both sides. OTOH, it was funny.

Chevy Chase could stand next to Eddie Murphy and make a remark about "black people", Eddie Murphy could make a "white people" joke. It would be funny. In either case, not everyone would laugh, because there's always a little bit of truth in comedy.

There's people of all races that take things much too seriously, or not seriously enough. As a matter of fact, there are racists of all colors. It's only when people can start examining themselves, perhaps laughing a little, will it get better. If it's malicious, then it's not humor. I don't find Boondocks to be malicious. Humor is disarming.

BTW, the only thing I find offensive about Eddie Murphy is that he curses too much. That can be said of many other comedians, as well.

Black people displaying bitter resentment at white people who work harder at improving themselves while the black people generally do poorly by such measures.

LOL! I bet it really ticks you off that most of them could outrun you anyway no matter how much you treadmill. ;~D

~shakes head~ Arrogant people. It's really about white people bein' silly. Careful, you'll end up in a strip someday.

I had to search to see who Chappelle is, but when I found him, I knew who he was. He is hysterical. Some one sent me an email, of "How Not to Get Arrested". If I can find the link, or someone knows of it, we can post it.

Personally, I think once society can laugh at its own stupidity, we will be better for it. Once people can say, "that's a stupid joke", instead of "that's a racist joke", we'll know we are there.

It took me a little awhile to be able to articulate this, but I've got it:

You should only find that comic strip offensive, if you are stupid enough to go out jogging in the snow, half-naked, and you happen to be white.

Otherwise, you too can laugh at that crazy white guy.

Chappelle is funny. I like Jeff Foxworthy too. I used to like Margaret Cho but she's turned into an unfunny pig IMHO. Laughing is better than crying.

Perhaps we can get to a point when we can all laugh at each other and not be "offended"...

Now that's a good point.

Some years ago when I worked in the oilfields of Texas a bunch of us were sitting around waiting for the Company Man to let us know the job was ready to go.

There were the three main ethnic groups represented with about a dozen guys altogether.

Somehow everyone got into telling racist jokes. Some of the most racist jokes you could imagine.

I never knew there were so many racist jokes about whites.

We all laughed for hours and no one was offended. Once people get to the point they can laugh at themselves life becomes more interesting.
