The same here.
You can vote for President Bush and support him over and over, campaign for him, write letters to the editor supporting him, (as I did)...
But the minute you criticize his terrible immigration (or lack of) policy...you will get attacked by the Bush-Bots, as a Buchananite. It's bizarre. They are almost as bad as the Clinton-bots who would eat their own children if they criticized Clinton.

Michelle Malkin addresses that here:
"Malkin: Activists smear anyone who wants better borders "(OBL CROWD)

By the way, check out my post #57; I have some good thread links there that you might be interested in.

Catch you around FR, Blurblogger!

I don't think you're a Buchananite. I disagree with President Bush on some issues as well, such as drug laws and steel tariffs.

But xenophobia has no place in a civilized society.

This thread is racist, we need low wage labor, they are our future and without that supply of low wage labor which will morph into tommorow's brain trust America will die on the vine (pun intended). These are just my LaRaza/WSJ talking points for today.

Fast food, restaurants, construction, field labor... it's all being done by those lazy arse U.S. citizens.

Not to mention all those U.S. citizen picking up tons of smelly leaking garbage bags every day to sling them into trucks, outdoors in all kinds of weather.

Not to mention the American citizen mine workers, risking their health and lives deep underground despite the danger of cave-ins, gas, flooding, and black lung.

Not to mention the Citizen police and firemen whose job it was to climb the World Trade Center on 911, never to return.

And they tell us that picking fruit is too hard and scary for the American Citizen to do?

What garbage. Do you think a civilized society should have no rules over its own border. What is your fascination with illegals? Why are you so enomoured with them? Study after study shows that they are not beneficial to our society but yet you advocate allowing them free and unchecked access to our monies. Why?

I disagree with President Bush on some issues as well, such as drug laws and steel tariffs.

What about drug laws? Do you want them abolished so Americans can go about stoned all day? How does that nurture the society you claim to be concerned about? If you are for stronger drug laws then how is it that you are against enforcing immigration law? There would be no logic in that? Clear this up for us, would you?

Er, why exactly is it *our* problem to drive these folks to their jobs and take care of their children?

Enforce immigration laws, fine employers $10,000/illegal hired and it will go a long way to clearing up the issue

vegies will rot in the field. No, they won't even get planted.

Houses will not be build. Yards will not be upkept. Street maintenance will cease. Chickens will not be slaughtered. Overgrown brushy land will not be cleared. Autobody and fender work will not be done. Garbage will not be collected. Restaurants will lose half their cooks and have no busboys.

Pay me enough, and I'll pick your veggies.

I hate desk work anyway. Besides exercise is good for us.

Must be losing the argument.

Enforce immigration laws

How about telling Mexico to control its own dang citizens?

East Germany did a good job keeping their people in their country, why can't Mexico?

It should be Mexico's responsibility to keep its citizen from trespassing onto U.S. property.

Fine Mexico instead of Americans.

Mexico could stop illegal immigration if it wanted to.

Don't waste your time with bayurod. You're not going to change his mind. Your time is better spend with those wavering on the issue. To that end...

usadave - please don't advocate bringing in more LEGALS either. We have plenty enough people in this country as it is. Do you live in a traffic-snarled major population center like I do? 300 million is enough.

Let's at least try a moratorium on immigration for a while.

When will Bush (or is it Carter?, Kerry?) do his usual stammering and stuttering on this issue?

If it's in the evening, a good drinking game would be a sip every time this wretched clown says "compassion"

looks like you are the clown who can't read. This article is a year old, LOL!.

Did you see the report by the California Congresswoman about Mexico take only 109 (about) of its criminals back from California out of tens of thousands.

Mexico encourages its citizens to cross our border and if some happen to be criminals - that's our problem.

Immigration today reminds me of the sin of disenfranchising the black man when the Constition was written.

Instead of dealing with the problem then it was swept under the rug and came to a crisis in the 1850's/1860's.

Today, instead of securing the border and making Mexico deal with its problem, which would eventually end up in revolution, our Gov. chooses to ignore the issue.

The problem is with Mexico, not the US needing workers!

All IMHO.

When I referred to "criminals" in my last post to you, I meant those in the California prisons not just your average illegal.

the illegal mexican in our apartment building, works as a landscaper, has huge mexican flag draped across his window, and spits when he sees americans.

Sounds somewhat familiar. In the town where I live you may be passed up for service if you do not speak Spanish. The town is over 80 percent Hispanic and many are illegals. If your car is struck by another in an accident most of the time the people in the other car will drive off or run off because they are illegal or have no car insurance.

There is an aspect to this issue that is being overlooked: Do the untold millions of illegal aliens flowing into the country from Mexico WANT to be Americans? From what I've seen, I'm not so sure. They seem to despise our culture, laws, language and us "Anglos."

Millions have come into this country over the years from other nations legally and managed to keep hold of their cultures and customs without having disdain for our country. They also wanted to become Americans. I think that's an important aspect to any "amnesty." issue.
