Couldn't the Senate and House Republicans start up some new "inquiry" or "commission" to investigate Vietnam and expose the full truth of what happened there and at home? The final report should point the fingers at those who stabbed the U.S. in the back during this war. Naturally, one of those named would be John Kerry. Could that not provide some initial pressure to get Kerry to resign?
now you're talking......that would sound alot better. I just am wary of extreme measures that is all.....the one thing that would worry me is that Vietnam was only brought up because of the elections.....now that Bush won I just don't think anyone gives much of a damned about this anymore......that is all....
These Inquiries or Commissions always have an "air of authority" that the public eats up. Afterwards, the nice big thick report issued by the commission can be used by Republicans to repeatedly bash Kerry in the media. Eventually, the public will wonder why Kerry still sits in the Senate, given that an "official" report by a Senate Commission makes him out to be a grand traitor.
I don't think this Vietnam thing is going to die down just because the election is over. Kerry is already starting his campaign for 2008, at which time we'll have to go through this "Vietnam Hero" nonsense all over again. I think it's best that we bury him well before that.
....also, I think it's best that an official Senate Commission clear up the misconceptions about Vietnam once and for all. For example, let's hear about how Cronkite lied about the Tet Offensive. Put that in the "official" report and let the public read about it. And let's hear about the true role that Kerry and his anti-war buddies played in helping defeat the United States. You and I already know about these things, but the "accepted" story told over and over again in the mainstream media and by professors on the university campuses is much different, and gives the public an entirely different perception. We need to change that perception. Once we've changed that perception, THEN we can move towards forcing Kerry out of the Senate.
Bump!
Thanks for the ping.
