I have stumbled onto a revelation, or something.
I had noticed that on the HT machines (the hyperthreaded P3.2 and the HT 2.4), SETI used 50% CPU unless the graphical interface was showing ... then it went to 100%.
I also noticed upthread where someone mentioned the command-line interface being much faster then the GUI version. I just downloaded the command-line interface and installed it. It too uses 50% CPU max. BUT, I can now run both the GUI and the Command line versions at the same time for 100% CPU utilization.
I just started doing this, so I'll see shortly if there are any conflicts, but at this time I essentially have 4 versions of SETI running on 2 machines, each using 50% CPU. I had been returning WUs in under 2 hours at 50% CPU on the Prescott box ... I'll let you know what it does with both running ...
This may be how Eaker has managed to stay ahead of us. Don't tell him about my new secret ... :)
Thanks, spodefly! :)
TheMom knows where the guns are kept. She make take suggestions, but orders??
He hit a pretty high rate a couple of weeks ago. I think we are just seeing the results of that.
You forgot to add the /sarcasm html code.
If you want to keep this friendly, I suggest you either add the "/sarcasm" code or take a nicer tone.
Eaker does not "order" any one to do anything. Nor do I take orders from him, or ANYONE!
You are being beaten fair and square, so take it like a man.
My husband has been registered with SETI over five years, he takes that commitment serious.
He has been in a friendly stats competition with Flyer for a while.
I can appreciate your wanting to join in on their game. What I do not appreciate is being portrayed as a wuss who does as her husband orders from someone that does not know me. That, sir, was bad form.
No aliens. Waste of money.
I just joined the team with my 790 units. In the SETI world I am squiddy.
I asked the mod to remove my comments. I thought my sense of humor and playfullness was apparent, but it wasn't.
I don't mean to impose myself on anyone, therefore I withdraw. Best of luck in your competition.
Do you use a different name for SETI? I'm not seeing "spodefly" in the team FReeper stats.
No need to remove the comments. I do not know yet know you or your sense of humor.
Please do not take offense to my comment either. It is in my nature to be bitchy when I hear the word "ordered".
If your comments were meant in jest, then that is how I will take it.
Please continue in the competition - but understand those that don't know you, may not get you.
