It will SUCK if this is the kind of crap they are dealing with... do the Brits complain about the various flags they have? Isn't the Union Jack a symbol of opium-dealing and shooting of Indians in Gandhi's time?
I suggest the remainder of this thread be dedicated to making up a new word which will be sufficiently derogatory for the film.
BTW, it's easy to solve the problem - when someone complains, just say, "yeah, but the problems in the past were when this state was run by KKK members who were Democrats."

Just a bunch of lib's, trying to push a lib agenda to create more libs. Destined to fail.
I thought to whole idea was entertainment, silly me.
Making a stinker movie by being politically correct, and expecting people to pay to see it?
Guess it will have an early DVD release with an "uncut" version" with lots of out takes. It will then only get rented by those who want to watch Simpleson in short shorts anyway.... lol

I will not be s'prised if the PC crowd doesn't insist upon the so called Dukes Never referring to their hotwheels as "Gen.Lee" The stars and bars on the roof can
always be shot around -but to mention that rebel leader?
Oh the shock and awe.
I suspect one Reason Gods and Generals was so reviled was not that the producers portrayed Southern leaders as
Christians(NO doubt Gen.Lee was) But that they portayed them
as human. Most of those who protest the Stars and Bars seem
more likely to treat the families of those who attacked us
on 9-11-01 more favorably than any son of the South.

Georgia debated dropping the "stars and bars" insignia from its state flag for years before finally doing so in 2003
Yikes, both P.C. garbage and inaccuracy all in one article.
R.E. the above, I am sure that the assembled FReepers will not need this limey to point out that Georgia did not remove the Stars and Bars, rather they shrank the Southern Cross past all recognition in 2003, and then switched to the Stars and Bars (as it now stands).
To have the Dukes of Hazzard without the flag, Dixie, or the General Lee is mindless. I remember one episode of the real thing where they are creating a fake double for the General; Daisy asks to paint the flag on declaring loudly 'I just love that flag'.
If they want to create a crappy film which ridicules the South, and will inevitably flop under the weight of its own patronising obesity, then let them do so, just don't tarnish the D.o.H. with it.

"Craptacular" was Bart Simpson's description of his father's Christmas decorations a couple of seasons ago. Somehow, it seems to fit this movie as well...

I guess some folks make a living out of being offended.
It's a movie about a TV show for crying out loud.

[story, quoting
Wall Street Journal]
But in the 19 years since the series was canceled, battles over the Confederate flag have grown more bitter: Georgia debated dropping the "stars and bars" insignia from its state flag for years before finally doing so in 2003. [Emphasis supplied.]
No, it didn't. The governor did it in a back room, overnight, at two in the morning, after the elections were over.
And no, it isn't the "Stars and Bars", it's the Battle Flag.
The "Stars and Bars" is the Confederate First National. The "Southern Cross" is a constellation. The Battle Flag is the Battle Flag.
The rectangular version commonly seen is the Battle Flag of the Army of Tennessee. The square version with twelve stars (usually bunched toward the crux) and a white border is the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. There are other versions as well, including one with the colors reversed that was used in the Trans-Mississippi Department.
The Wall Street Journal needs to bone up on the issue before the editors opine about it.
