Eminently logical, but I don't see that anything's going to change.

They can use my taxes for this.
If I had any say in where our taxes went it would immediately stop going to the palis. Lets stop funding terrorist before we stop helping disaster victims.

OK, OK. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get your point. But you're selfish and cold-hearted SOB, aren't you, Dave?
Geez, I bet this guy's fun on a date.

So if anyone asks if I donated to the relief fund, can I say I gave on April 15th?

Yep, when we say this, we were called Stingy by Commies and Socialists.
But for them, the people's money is the governments.
Here, it's different! THANK GOD!

Err, nice article in theory perhaps, but seeing as how the U.S. government already spends upwards of $2.5 trillion per year, I'm pretty sure there are more egregious expenses that can be examined than spending $135 million to alleviate one of the most horrible natural disasters of recent times.

The govt shouldnt be funding the North Koreans, and it's true the govt wastes a lot of taxpayer money, but when a huge disaster like this strikes, it's only right that we lend a helping hand.
They may or may not do the same for us, but we are supposed to be the best nation in the world, and we should help out the little ones when they are in trouble.

Whoops...$350 million, not $135 million. Point still stands.

As with everything with this bunch, nice on paper, ridiculous in reality. I too wish taxes were a lot lower, and we weren't spending on a LOT of other things, but I don't begrudge the innocent victims of nature assistance. And no, I wasn't personally asked, but while I DO want a more responsive government I don't want one that asks me my permission for each individual outlay of money.
The Rand and Libertarian folks are a lot like communists: Some think their ideas are attractive on paper. But we don't live on paper.

This sure will elicit a lot of comments on the negative side.
What is totally amazing is that there will be people who will say...yeah....but we should give to this.
Well, that is what just about everybody says about everything that comes under the sun.
No wonder we have no hope of ever reigning in this behemoth which is the Federal Govenment.
