He was the Dad in Dirty Dancing. A great character actor. RIP, Jerry.

Crimes and Misdemeanors

He was good in that. Plays a scumbag that kills his brother's mistress.

I think my alltime favorite Briscoe moment was in the one about the guy who witnessed a murder, but he was a bookie and couldn't testify. Orbach asks to look around, opens one file cabinet, and finds the murder weapon instantly. He holds the gun up and says "Wow, that was easy!" His delivery is priceless.

are you sure he was Lumiere? That was quite a good French accent for a life-long New Yorker!

But I know Orbach was quite accomplished, he was on Broadway for years and had a great singing voice, even won a Tony.

Very sad news. I enjoyed his work on L&O, and was sorry to see him "turn in" his badge and retire, so to speak, on the show earlier this year.

May he Rest In Peace.

I first heard the news last night while I was watching a rerun of Law & Order. May he rest in peace.

How sad. Jerry Orbach was my favorite TV actor. "Law & Order" was not the same without him. I had hoped to see him and Chris Noth together again -- they has chemistry, were the best combination on the show.

This year has seen many deaths of people I've liked and admired, among them: Pat Tillman, Jason Dunham, President Ronald Reagan, Reggie White, many brave men and women in Iraq.
