My mom's dog killed a blackbird last summer. After that, those birds swooped and taunted that dog mercilessly, and it lasted into the fall. The birds didn't bother the other neighbor dogs.

Animals are closer to nature. If we don't get the word from an official gov't communication, it is not happening.

Birds don't exactly look out for each other before the fact, but some kinds are intensely concerned if something happens to one of the flock.
