I'm on top of a hill too. I picture rowing to Murray Hill across the flooded lowlands of the forties and fifties.
A friend of mine who is very survival-oriented has a motorized raft in his apartment. He maintains that if we had to evacuate, that would be the only way, outside of a plane. I think that's a good way to get murdered for your raft.

bring him to the Freeper party!Every nonworking hour is taken up with volunteer work of one kind or another, plus he has a family. I kind of doubt it.
His kids were on tv showing their survival kits that they always carry with them. The family was in an art museum in Toronto during the blackout of August 14, 2003, and his daughter led everyone out by shining her flashlight along the baseboard.
He says if you do nothing else, have these 3 things:
1. small radio with batteries
2. water for three days
3. flashlight

Like we've always said, the Earth will shake us off like a case of bad fleas before we can do any real damage to it.

U.S. East Coast, including New York, Washington, Boston and Miami, according to a British researcher. The Blue states mostly.....
Hasta Lavista commies...hope you can swim.

I still say scuba gear, wetsuit and flippers, carry the inflatable raft in a waterproof bag, then inflate it when actually in the river.
Plus, the air tanks will keep you from drowning!

it could build up enough force to wipe out the U.S. East Coast, including New York, Washington, Boston and MiamiI'd miss Miami.

Western New Jersey already has a huge problem...It's called CAMDEN!There's something about Camden that makes me suspect that it's naturally water repellant -- the water would just sorta bead-up and runoff, leaving Camden looking the same way it always has.
