Perry also signs pro-life legislation, but he has many flaws in other areas. He has appointed several liberal Democrats and ex-Democrats to major statewide offices and state courts - many of whom are undoubtedly pro abort. Perry's first secretary of state appointment was Henry Cuellar, now a Democrat congressman from south Texas. Perry has also done many inept and liberal things while in office such as failing to enact property tax reform, supporting the hate crimes law, and giving out favor appointments to liberal trial lawyer lawfirms that contribute to his campaign.
Thanks for the info. I have been wondering about Gov. Perry.
I disagree. Given that the Lt. Gov. holds the real power in Texas, it would be better to recruit a well liked figurehead such as Hutchison for governor than a relatively unpopular RINO like Perry who tries to control more than his office's constitutional duties permit. This would also open up a senate seat from Texas, that would almost surely be filled by a member of the Texas congressional delegation. Since virtually every single Republican congressman from Texas is a diehard conservative (including all of its veteran members - DeLay, Barton, Sessions, Paul, Bonilla) this would add a conservative voice to the U.S. Senate.
