It will probably be a combination of both the Federal Government and Wall Street who will eventually take over running California.

No money should ever flow from the federal government to the states. Federal taxes should take what is required to run the federal government and no more, and what is required are those powers and responsibilities granted by the Constitution. Local and state money should stay with localities and states and spent - or not spent - by them as they see fit. This would significantly curtail pork and make Congress concentrate on what is best for the nation as a whole.

I'm just not surprised at all, not after his rousing speech at the RNC convention which happened around the same time as he signed the 50 caliber ban here in Californiastan. And just how has he improved things since he took office? By the time we have a chance to vote again, illegals will have drivers licenses, the state will own more property for envirowhackism, taxes will be even higher, and homos will be obtaining wedding certificates all over the state. But he'll crack a joke and send Maria out to shill for himself and the leftist media will feign unhappiness. The RNC will shrug and get behind another term.

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger suggested in a German newspaper interview, that the US Republican Party should move "a little to the left", a shift that he said would allow it to pick up new voters. I cease to be amazed. What's truly sickening is how many "Republicans" (sic) want this RINO to be President.

Schwarzenegger ... standing by a promise to toe a conservative line on fiscal matters... In a pig's eye. That RINO supported Prop 71, adding another SIX BILLION DOLLARS to California's already multi-billion dollar burgeoning debt.
Fiscal conservative? My sweet aching @ss.

Did Arnie happen to notice that the GoP kept the presidency, picked up seats in the US Senate, and also in the US House?

[Schwarzenegger, a Republican, has taken an unorthodox approach since winning office last year -
standing by a promise to toe a conservative line on fiscal matters while veering leftward on social issues such as gay rights and the environment.]
When did he start "toe(ing) a conservative line on fiscal matters"? I must have missed that.

You keep failing to mention:
The gal that's circulating the petition (for Arnold to run for Pres) is a big Prop 71 beneficiary.
There is a connection.
To: yonif
"oth US parties I see as moving to the left domestically at different speeds." The way I see it the dims are taking the country to hell so fast ya can't see the scenery. At least with the pubbies you can catch a bit of a view every now and then.

["This would immediately give the party 5 per cent more votes without it losing anything elsewhere."]
Tell that to Bush 41. He'll be glad to hear that Arnold thinks that losing the conservative base had nothing to do with his being sent to the showers in 1992.
