Brand new Winn Dixie store near me. I buy my groceries there all the time. I see/buy cookies, milk, bread with brand name Dixie all the time and never until your post ever thought about it. LOL.

Dixie Cups are actually a yankee brand, as I recall.

. . . a committee came up with that eyesore flag . . . Actually, an Atlanta architect -- who should have known better than to (a) participate; and (b) draw up such a hideous thing -- designed that blue flag with all the junk on it. He's a friend of my parents, so I won't name his name. He's covered in enough shame already, without blazoning his name on FR . . . I hope he regrets getting involved with King Roy -- he should have known that anything Roy touched turns to &^%$%$#$.
I think it's funny as heck that people don't realize that the new GA flag is based on the Confederate First National, which was far more prevalent than the Confederate Battle Flag or Naval Ensign. Of course, the really old GA flag (very similar to the one in use now) was designed by an ex-Confederate Colonel as one in the eye for the Reconstructionists.

I realise that it's practically a heresy to say bad things about the Southern Cross, but I actually prefer the Stars and Bars. It is splendidly ingeneous of Georgia to take one Confederate Flag and replace it with another, at the same time silencing the libbies.
The combination of Gone With the Wind and The Dukes of Hazzard made Georgia my favourite state, keeping a Confederate Flag and being the first state declared for G.W.B. on election night have re-enforced that view.

meanwhile the state flag of Mississippi still has the confederate battle flag in the upper left hand corner, and In Georgia it has been pre-filed to recieve a fair vote on the stolen 1956 state flag that has 1/3 of the said flag covered with a confederate battle flag.
the last vote for a state flag didn't even have that flag as an option.

One additional thing I like about Vicksburg
is that so many of our streets are named
after Confederate generals.

God bless you.
I live on Fredericksburg myself. (a nice victory largely caused by my wife's greatX2's uncle Gen. WP Barksdale).

YEP.
BUT the FACT that the GA scalawags changed the flag from one CSA flag to another CSAv design will NOT save "sonny the liar"'s JOB.
we descendants of the BRAVE CSA veterans will NEVER forget or forgive his promise to allow Georgians to vote to restore the REAL GA flag. NEVER!

Of course my street is named after a courageous
general in the War of 1812, but... maybe he had
a Confederate relative later on. :)
No matter what other parts of the South do
to cave-in to the PC crowd, Vicksburg will
always celebrate Southern hertiage. I love
our Military Park,... we get over 1,000,000
visitors each year.

For some reason there are a lot of streets in various cities in North Carolina named for the defeated General Cornwallis. No one complains about that.

The Arkansas flag is essentially just the confederate battle flag split down the middle and recombined end-to-end. Then Governor Bill Clinton approved its design.

want a chuckle for the day???
here in yankee-occupied northern VA, we have MANY streets named for CSA heroes & martyrs.
NONE have been re-named because the LIBS,foreign immigrants & yankee transplants are TOO IGNORANT of American history to know who the streets are named in honor of.
QUANTRELL RD for ONE! FORREST AVE for another.
a professor friend of mine at JMU says that about 1-5% of the residents realize that LEE HWY is named for GENERAL LEE! now that's IGNORANCE!

Isn't that interesting! I know Vicksburg
does not have a Cornwallis street, avenue
road or even a lane.

The media drive the black-white CBF issue. They keep it alive. Many blacks and whites share their love of Southern History and the Confederate Battle Flag. They are the silent majority.
