"In 15 years I've spent at the United Nations, this is the second time that the General Assembly had a standing ovation for a leader," he said. The last time was in September 1998 when President Bill Clinton addressed the General Assembly "when he was a beleaguered president, under attack on the Monica Lewinsky case."
First Beelzebubba, now the thoroughly corrupt Annan.
Why are these moral lepers allowed inside our borders?

The members of the Security Council/UN don't want anyone to rock their boat.
If Kofi is forced to leave it could mean a closer look at the UN in general. So, they must stand behind him.

This organization is corrupt from the top down and they are applauding their efforts and daring the world to challenge.

Of course, these hypocrites all made good money in kickbacks on this guy's work. Why wouldn't they give him a standing O.
This is window dressing for those not paying attention - hoping popularity contests will defeat common sense.

is the CIA bugging the UN building? I sure hope they are, that's why having the UN in NY is essential, listening in and gaining intelligence...

I feel much better about Kofi Annan now that a truly great moral leader and fine judge of character such as Ted Kennedy has weighed in on the issue.
("Teddy, I think I'm pregnant." "Don't worry, Marijo, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.")

Cant wait to hear the left start, that when President Bush went before the UN not a sound was made.
To: kattracks
I got news for the U.N.: You can't polish a turd.
To: Gerasimov; All
Kofi and the United Nations stand united as a counterbalance to American hegemony.
In the Post Cold War era this IS what the United Nations has become.
