(weeping) I can't help it, I miss Duke Nukem. And Doom. And Blood. And Descent.
For shooting things at close range, I'd rather nominate the humble sawed-off shotgun, though, rather than the crossbow. It's so, so, freeing. But if you're in God mode, the bazooka is more satisfying.
Mmmmmmmm - baz-ZOOOOOO-ka...
Whatever happened to just Pacman? De-evolution occurred in the high tech department. (sniff, sniff)

This might be just the ticket, no Lazer beams or other nonsense, just basic firearms and Small Squad Tactics.
One of the most enjoyable games I have played, cheap, easy to find opponents and best of all, you arent playing aginst some Computers AI, it's real people.
Cheers,
knews hound
Yeah, I love 'em all too. Just wish that I didn't have to keep talking to some idiot wearing a Fez.
Why miss em? there are playable multi level demos available at WWW.DOSGAMES.COM Of course you'll need Windows 98,DOS, or a couple or three emulators to run em on your modern system. Some of them will even work in XP but that's the exception rather than the rule.Descent will run on my XP system without sound.
Ace is, as always, absolutely freaking HYSTERICAL! :)
One more thing if you just like running around shooting stuff the playable demo of Quake 3 Arena is awesome. And it doesn't require a fancy graphics card to work.
Can we get a bunny with a pancake on its head for this post? 'Cause I sure don't know what you're talking about!
Shotguns do eliminate the drudgery of having to aim, without a doubt.
Coooooool. I want to play!
Coooooool. I want to play!
Okay this is how pathetic I am - I kept a Windows 98 partition on my Linux box, JUST SO I COULD PLAY MY LEGACY GAMES. But I miss the games because I have a little six-year-old boy now and I can't even play them around him yet because of the violence.
Well, except for Descent II which I can slide under his Daddy's radar because it's just robots I'm shooting, there's no blood, and we get to save the hostages.
Otherwise, his Daddy puts his foot down about violent games. He gets seasick just watching me play anything in 360...
So did I, and that familiar nauseous feeling returned like last time. Something about running through Doom's hallways makes me sick.
That's pretty pathetic but understandable, so at 6 he's got a bed time right? I do most of my game playing late at night so I don't get interupted. There are some other non bloody games that are also fun have you tried Red Ace Squadron? One of the only flying games I've tried that works well without a joystick and doesn't require a top shelf system.
Ok I gotta know what's the difference between "Final Doom" and "Ultimate Doom" I have the full version of Doom 2 what am I missing?
