The Vatican pharmacy must be a hoppin' place. Anyone with a few braincells and knowledge of history knows that christians have very little to do with the war on terror. It's the islamic world vs. everyone else. Islam hates anything that stands in it's path and historically christians have been at the forefront of protecting western european values and interests for a few tens of centuries, so it's just guilt by association.
"Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?"
After the church sex-abuse scandal, the Vatican gets it wrong again. Hatred of Jews and Christians is the cause not the effect of Islamofascism.
If WOT is deemed necessary, then it's like chemo-therapy: painful, destroy some good cells, but it's necessary.
I think by acknowledgeing that it is neccesary to wage a war on terror, he is acknowledging the existence of Christianophobie. He is saying that the war will cause more of it, perhaps. In the short run, that is true. The hope is that Moslems will see the virtues of Iraq, and will fear Christianity less. Bush is very smart to play up his own Christianity, in this respect. This guy is apparently one of the good guys. Save your fire for the bad guys, like the French Cardinals.
=== This war, although necessary,
I'd love to know what they have on the Vatican's quislings. Must be good.
