But the accent is not a bad thing. And FWIW, listen to his brother Terry and find out how much Jerry's accent is has been toned down since he moved to Richmond. I'm not kidding.
But, as a native of SW Virginia (who amazingly escaped the accent) I resent the thought that it makes him sound gay. Just like a southern accent doesn't make someone stupid.

Thanks for that. I had forgotten that he had pushed through the legislation about illegal aliens not being allowed to pay instate tuition rates. What an uproar that caused. But I agree with him on that.
As someone who only got a Virginia license for the first time last year.........I can attest to the rigors for getting one. It took me 3 tries to get my Delaware license transfered to VA.....
If me, a born and raised US citizen had that much trouble, I would venture to say, it's pert near impossible for an illegal.

Jerry's accent is thick. But I don't think it will be a problem.
I think he will. But I also think that he and the real conservatives in the Assembly know that won't go thru the Senate and the Governor. The best they can hope for next session is to stop further increases.
And count on it. The proposals are on their way.
