This Texan moved to Florida to vote for W. Now it's time to go home.

There were 535,000+ more votes cast in the presidential election just held than for the gubernatorial election the previous year just as an example

I think that would be true of most states..... Presidential elections almost always draw larger vote totals than state elections.... My point is that runoffs just don't draw the attention that the full ballot races do. That usually is evident even in Party Primaries where runoffs occur

Texas...... [these both were held on a Tuesday]
2002 Governor .. 4,553,987 voters
2004 President ... 7,410,749 voters

Ok, point taken. But we clearly do better in Louisiana when the turnout numbers are up -- contrary to the experience of the Republican Party across much of the rest of the nation -- so I'll still hope that the good folks show up this Saturday.

Chris,

I got to meet a few of these folks the Friday before the election and got to spend a few hours with them.

Amazing and wonderful are the two words that come to mind.

Actually, the poster is the author of the article, one of the founders of YCOP, a driving force in the conservative movement, and and overall good guy and my friend. ;-)

Thank you Pennsylvania for being so good to us. This was my first time working with MTSF and I'd do it again in a minute. To all the great friends we made: Connie Wolff, Ray Horvath, Cindy Helmstetter, Stan Shivell,Bob Doddato just to name a few - we love you. We couldn't have done it without all of you.

I worked the last weekend before the election for 14 hours making calls in my home state of FL. I never volunteered like that but had a nightmare a few days earlier that Kerry had won. This got me to help that and how Kerry screwed Vietnam Vets.

I had a Texan on that last weekend next to me calling. He flew in to help in Florida. We also had people from PA, NY and other states. It was amazing. The people were incredible.

The Dems stole Michigan in Detroit and PA in Philly.

These Texas were awesome. We had them helping in Florida plus people from PA, NY and others states. They were tireless. They made calls and walked precincts.

The Dems had paid goons or union guys that got extra vacation time. These Texas plus others just wore out the Dems.

Towards the end of the campaign, the Dems were ripping down Bush signs at houses and on roads. In South Palm beach County, the local Bushies and probably some Texas were out all night putting new signs up. They drove the Dems crazy.

Somebody should write a book because there are a LOT of unsung heroes out there.

I salute you NY'ers! I spoke with quite a few down here in Florida. We also had Texas, and people from PA and a few others states. It was amazing. These people who travelled to other states were just incredible.

Great article! Found a site that has an article by a local that was the manager of the MTSF "nerve center":
