How did two Republicans make it to the general election? Wasn't there a primary?

They were the top two vote-getters. It's a military town; I'm not sure a Democrat even bothered to run in the primary. I think it's just a part of their new litigate-til-we-win strategy.
Of course, Strategery trumps mere strategy every time.
With the passage of the city proposition that gives more control to the mayor, we really need to make sure the democrat, who fell from the ugly tree and bounced off every branch twice, Donna Frye, is not in office.
Until the recent proposition passed, San Diego was run more by the city manager than by the council and mayor.
I agree that she should not have even been allowed to run, even as a write in, because she was not a part of the primary election. I am amazed that she got as many votes as she did being that San Diego is a more conservitive city.

Actually, I was hoping for a run-off mainly because it might bring out the Roberts' voters. And .. since the write-in was illegal to begin with .. a new election between Murphy and Roberts might end up ridding us of Murphy.
I voted for Murphy the first time .. but I just don't think he's strong enough or tough enough to make the decisions necessary to get SD out of this mess.
I voted for Murphy.
I'm glad I did.
Frye would be the final nail in SD's coffin.
Imagine looking at her ugly mug on a daily basis. :::shudder:::
The resemblance between the two is amazing.
I think you're right .. I'd rather have Murphy than Frye.
