Nationwide, as people's education level increases, they are more likely to vote Republican, through the master's degree level. People with Ph.D's make a sharp turn to the left, however. I suspect that Ph.D's are statists who want to preserve the status quo which favors paper crendentials over experience and results. No. The reason is that the overwhelming majority of Ph.Ds are professional academics with doctoral degrees that wouldn't be worth a dime in the real world. Those degrees are only of value inside their cloistered little group-think world.

I think you are saying the same thing as me but in a narrower context. Outside academia most Ph.D.'s work for the government, or government contractors.
In the real world a Ph.D. is worth little, I agree.

Blah! Tennessee is low in every one. Can't say I disagree with but ... BTW I've noticed that most of the high achieving students in my school are girls. There are 4 boys and 13 girls in my Algebra class. There were only 3 other boys in my pod that had first honor-roll and 15 girls. Is it just our school or what?

Welcome to FreeRepublic. I think the original article was meant as a joke, BTW. Girls tend to do better in school normally because healthy red-blooded young men find it wicked boring. On top of that the academic establishment has been ever further feminizing the academy.
By nature men are better at spatial and abstract reasoning used in Engineering, Science and Mathematics than women, but not a whole lot better. Girls are much better at sitting quietly for hours at time, a lot better.
In the engineering trade - in my limited experience - men tend to congretate in the laboratory/application end, women in the software/management/sales side.
