Hey if this holds I think a party is in order.
I have a newly acquired bottle of most excellent Russian champaigne that I am willing to bring and share.

Once again, MarMema, the rats are trying to deny us the champagne... But we will drink it soon enough.

I have just imbibed a bottle of "cava", a Spanish sparkling white wine that French law would never permit to be called "champagne". I have accompanied the cava with some crusty French bread and some smoked sockeye salmon. At the moment, I would count my victory celebration to be a success, insofar as I am feeling no pain.

Ah, you're making me want to open that bottle - now!! I'm going to have to withdraw my offer if I end up drinking it on my own.
Is it time to believe or should we still hold back on hope? These kinds of announcements are starting to make it seem real at last.

But have you made it official with a solo conga line? ;)

No conga line. Once Rossi survives the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th recounts, I'll do that conga line. (I'll drink a bottle with each victory in a recount.)

The D's will demand recount after recount until they either lose or the courts shut them down.

Here's the strategy: They recount King Co., overcome the 42-vote margin, and force the Republican Party to shell out $7M for a hand-recount of the WHOLE STATE.

Actually, the way state law reads, if a recount of any county causes the lead to change, then the entire state must be recounted at taxpayer expense.

Hey, I think of everything. If Rossi wins on the eve of any FReeper Meet, I'll do the conga line in public.

This might be called contingency planning... But you may have to plan the event, to coincide with a court decision. Sounds like Ms. Chris G is setting up a court challenge on provisional ballots -- that may have been tossed in King County prior to their certified count total of today. She announced same in her statement this evening and said she would put it into a letter to Sec. of State, Sam Reed.

If any of her challenges impinge on the 14th Amendment as it applies in
Bush v. Gore, then the 9th Circuit will be involved, which is bad. But the 9th Circuit is overseen by Justice Antonin Scalia, which is good.
There may be hope for an honest result after all.

The Democrats have the right to demand a re-recount. Given the smallness of the final margin, its a reasonable call. The GOP would have done the same thing had Christine Grigoire come out on top. Its not going to be over until December, folks.

The Perkins Coie attorney who is representing the DemocRAT party in this instance, and signed the letter to Sec of State Reed is
Kevin J. Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton lists as clients:
+ The Boeing Company
· Starbucks Coffee Company
· Vulcan -- Paul Allen's company
· Experience Music Project -- a Paul Allen project.
· UTILX
And, he represented Maria Cantwell in her 2000 election battle. Oh, did I mention? He also represented Clinton Gore in 1996.
